The twitter bandwagon of teenagers screaming for Roy out has now truly got under my skin. Yes, through a combination of poor performances and bad luck we have now lost 6 in a row, but our position far from the relegation zone and not far from top 10 goes to show how well he has done prior to lockdown. The man has worked miracles despite hardly ever being backed in the market. To be honest, bar Benteke and Mama (who I believe have been very poor value for money), none of our squad were particularly expensive signings. I’m not saying Roy is flawless (lack of subs particularly frustrates me), but his astute defensive and tactical knowledge i imagine is far superior to any new manager we could attract. Ok, we don’t score enough goals, but we really do not have the firepower to enable us to do so, as teams often double up on Wilf, with Ayew being the only other genuine threat. If Roy stays, we stay up. If he goes, there’s a risk that if it goes wrong we could be in trouble.

I don’t believe that Hodgson’s critics have a problem with the position in the table or are expecting us to push for Europe.
The issue relates more to defensive style of play , rigid tactics,, lack of quality from set pieces and reluctance to make changes in particular when we fall behind in games.
To those who say Hodgson hasn’t got the tools at his disposal I would point to the Chelsea game and the game last night.
We showed good attacking intent in those games when Hodgson demonstrated that he can release the shackles and change the formation.
If we play that way in the future arguably many may have less of a problem with Hodgson.

The issue is same old system and names this is what is annoying people

We are losing he brings on another defensive midfielder or ward who has played all the games is struggling he doesn't even try another player in that position.

What about the youth giving someone like 5min is just a waste of time.

Even FDB didn't lose this many games in a row

Roy has worked wonders when you consider he has the transfer dealing ineptitude of Freedman behind him and the refusal or possibly poverty of Parish to financially back him, but he does not seem able to tactically work out the modern game. Its like saying we had the best racing car 5 years ago so it must be one of the best now.

Yes the aquad is thin, yes we have adapted the tactic of the false 9 to a level where we have false sttikers but it's the sheer rigidity. The going one behind and if he even bothers to use a sub brings on a defender. It all adds up to he either goes now or is sacked early next season.

We have lost 6 on the bounce and will prubably lose 8 and hardly scored. Simply not good enough. Villa who may well go down have done better.

Oh and I am a long way off my teenage years, when I was a teenager we were really crap!

I think what jack (the OP) is saying regards to teenagers is the continuous , slating of Roy and the team from people who would hardly remember our promotion year due to their age. They also think it’s easy to sack a manager and get a better one in or play max Meyer (because he’s rated 80 on FIFA so he must be good .
It’s a very dangerous time, the fan base is turning on each other I have de activated my twitter account for precisely this reason hour kids and morons slagging the club off .
At some point , Roy will have to be replaced due to his age, if he was to go now, leaving this squad, we would be relegated without a doubt next season. And do a charlton (they wished for better got rid of curbishley and bosh )

Anyway I’m going to be posting a lot more on here now again , you don’t get the amount of idiots on here as you do Twitter

I recall my teenage years back in the 60s, when 'Selhurst Park' was only half full. Much later I recall gates of 6-7,000 during the infancy of the Noades era.I have certainly experienced the 'High' and the 'Lows' but even through the 'Troughs' I looked forward to home games but not any more on account of the dross and lack of goals at 'Selhurst Park'.

In those days one would witness 'blood and thunder' tackles with none of this simulation and going to ground when one feels the breath of an opponent. There were also a variety of chants and songs, some very derogatory, but these have disappeared in this modern era.

without risk there is no reward (or chance of advancing the club). People need to get over this whole 'our annual objective is to stay up'. I am more ambitious in life and for my club. I would rather see us take the next step and fail, rather than be bored with unadventurous mediocrity season-after-season, which will ultimately see us relegated anyway as fans and players lose interest after realising we have no ambition as a club.

Sometimes supporters and 'Boards' see matters differently as there are different dynamics at play not least finances.

So we need to relocate to Divison Three South and play five forwards and no offside, sorry time has moved on perhaps you should move with it.

How many of the last 8 fixtures would we really have expected to win?
I would have given us 4 points between Villa and Burnley and that is it. As it was, we had very bad luck with VAR decisions and Cahill plus, and this is the important bit, we had no crowd support and were virtually safe before the lockdown.

People throwing their toys about over our run of defeats and Roy's tactics is quite ridiculous under the circumstances.
