My young son has taken up goalkeeping, and having heard me describe Nigel Martyn as our best ever goalkeeper is keen to see him in action for Palace.

I've looked on YouTube but I can only find videos of Martyn playing for Leeds or Everton. Has anyone got links to videos of him at his best for us?

Cheers

Old Trafford away in 89 would be a good search. Won us that game.

Some Ex-professionals play 'Vets' football in their advanced years but Nigel Martyn is unable to do so as a consequence of the injury which ended his career.

I was at an evening game when Nigel Martyn was sent off against Wimbledon by David Elleray and John Salako went in goal.I believe we won that 3-2 but often the passage of time dims the memory!
My fading memory is telling me that Wimbledon had two players red-carded but this could well be hogwash!

I DO recall with a degree of certainty that Salako made a marvellous save at the Holmesdale End.

I was at the game and can remember Salako going in goal. That's about it. It seemed a steange choice but apparently he had played in goal as a kid or something like that.

Dont forget the England v Greece game where Beckham scored 'THAT' goal, Nigel Martyn was in goal & pulled off some great saves.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
