odd thing to study... my mum's only recollection of going to palace (once) with my dad was that they played "bits and pieces" and everybody stamped their feet for some reason. I don't know if it was a song to run on to or a half time ditty. like most others, I suspect, glad all over has dominated my living memory although I know other songs have come and gone. did Jordan have a period of starting with the long good Friday music, or was that only ever s lead up to GAO?

The Long Good Friday theme tune just before the teams came out in the past always made the hairs in the back of my neck stand up, such a great piece of music

GAO has definatly been dropped several times (to much general outrage!) but at the moment I cannot remember for what.

Town called Malice (Jam) has always been one of my favourites before the teams come out. Haven’t heard it played recently or I’ve just got used to it and haven’t noticed? Played on radio often still. Always makes me think of Palace whenever I hear it :-)

In the 1920s a brass band played various dittys on special occasions - well probably. I like to think perhaps a bit of Elgar too. After the National Anthem of course, when the crowd would doff their caps in respect.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
