Who would be your back 4? I'd be tempted until we sign a new right back to play Tomkins at right back....

Tomkins--Cahill--Sakho--V Aanholt

We have one competent right back in Ward and one left back in PVA so what you have to do is be tempted to make a decision on who your favoured centre backs are .
Mine on recent form are Cahill and Tomkins .

I think a lot of it comes down to which person "leads the defence" and glues them together.

Sakho and Cahill are the natural leaders - but I wouldn't play them together.

For me it's which defender do you pick to play alongside Tompkins. He's the constant and the one who slots in alongside anyone.

Ward, Tomkins, Sakho and PVA.

Cahill has quite obviously instilled so much confidence and knowledge into our back lines this season it is very hard not to pick him at all when fit, Dann also used to be absolutely rock solid and brilliant in set pieces .. that 0-0 game tackle and injury against Man C at home appears to have finished him off very sadly, Sakho makes me visit the loo almost every time he passes and PVA (not so much this season) can have Kelly moments in his half ..excellent though running into opposition boxes, I feel each and every game is so different that picking the same line is impossible anyway.

it picks itself imo, ward sakho cahill pva, however i dont rate pva that highly and ward gets complacent without competition. I certainly dont see the point of martin kelly staying beyond the summer and id like to see a rookie rightback come in and young mitchell promoted to the first team squad.

sorry but I've never rated Cahill that highly and think Sakho is better. He reads the game so well and starts so many attacks from the back. I still remember that game under Allerdyce when he had Kane in his back pocked all game (til he got injured).
Tomkins complements him so well and I think he's been immense since he signed for us.

I would have Ward and PVA as right and left backs I would have Cahill as one centre back but I’m not sure whether to but in Tomkins or Sakho. At the moment I’d probably say Tomkins

Sakho, will never get back to the form he showed under Big Sam.

I think he was additionally motivated to show Klopp what he was missing at the time and believe he has become both lazy and complacent in mind when on the pitch.

He is coasting at Palace and plays very much like that when I watch him and only him during games.

Cahill and Tomkins as a partnership in the short term I think is a more realiable.

This is the back 4 for me also. Sakho is a liability and his lack of pace is shocking. If you look back on all his injuries they are caused by himself either over playing the ball and loosing it then having to stretch or being out of position and having to stretch.
