I am not a huge fan of Benteke but Ray Lewington was screaming to the defenders to lump it forward and Ayew is not big enough for that. The only chances we had against City were after Benteke came on. I am not even saying CB did much other than that very good header for his first touch.

Just wish we could have more of a go at teams sometimes I feel we give them too much respect!

But then again I still cannot work out why bring on a big CF and then switch Wilf to the left and put Andros on the right so they cannot cross early with their best foot. Andros turned back onto his left twice and the delay gave the defence time to settle. Surely with the lack of any centre backs you put in crosses and try to take advantage? It was the same at Sheffield Utd. In the last 10 we had two big forwards on and not a single cross. It all seems a bit futile....

Last night Arsenal were poor dealing with crosses at head height and corners. If only we had two decent crossers and a CF who could score. 2 out of 3 only

I’m no Benteke fan but with no centre halves for City it was a no brainer to start with him and play the long ball however Roy is incapable of change and so we missed a great chance. Big Sam would’ve relished putting Fernandinho and Rodri under pressure!

On the other hand it would be grossly unfair on Ayew if Benteke started. And playing both against City was never going to be an option. This weekend's game also looks like an opportunity for Benteke....

If we played long balls and Benteke won a header, there would be nobody to support him.

Just to add that in our last 25 home games going back to the start of last season, we've only scored in the first half of five of those.

he has lost his form but in fairness he is made for crosses but has two wingers either side of him who prefer to cut inside rather than cross - if he had Steve Coppell on the right and Steve Heighway on the left he'd probably still be prolific, or even Dave Wagstaffe and Dave Thomas from that era. Time can play some cruel tricks, shame Christian wasn't forty five years older, but then he wouldn't be playing for us and the question would be irrelevant.
