Anthony Taylor (40) from Wythenshawe, Manchester.

It will be his birthday the following day.

Last season, he was in the middle for our away wins at Leicester and our defeats at Watford, West Ham and Everton.

This Saturday’s fixture is his first Palace match of the current season.

Assistants: Gary Beswick, Adam Nunn.

Fourth official: Tim Robinson.

VAR: Michael Oliver. Assistant VAR: Andy Halliday.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is Anthony Taylor's first match at Selhurst Park since his infamous officiating against Everton the season before last, when Niasse's dive resulted in the award of a penalty and Everton's pretty aggressive approach to the game was generally allowed to proceed unimpeded.
I happen to think he's not a bad ref...but not a great one either. Let's see how he does on Saturday.

Why for a game in London against a team from Manchester do we have a ref who lives in Manchester??

Don't worry, according to my mate from Wythenshaw, he's a secret red but tells everyone his team is Stockport

The fact that so few officials admit to supporting Premier League teams is highly suspicious.

If they did so, they would miss out on the opportunity to officiate at many of the big matches.

This isn’t to say they are not impartial.

Referees have their personal reputations to protect, so I believe they are all objective and unbiased in their officiating.

Anthony Taylor has been in the middle for many matches involving Man U and Man C in recent seasons, and I am not aware of any in which his integrity has been queried.

On that basis, I am entirely comfortable about his appointment for Saturday’s match.

I thought he had an excellent match - particularly considering the persistent and petty grief he was getting from some of our players.

Shame some of our players are so poorly disciplined.

I would prefer Cahill as skipper.

Roy needs to get a grip on this.

how the hell can a ref from MANCHESTER officiate in any game involving a Manchester team, even if he isnt biased it leaves him open to suggestions that he is.....refusal to book De Bryune and others suggests that he may be
What are the Premier league thinking???

Especially after his booking Mili in the 12th minute for a fairly innocuous offense..........

Thought the ref was ok, didn’t have much to do as we let City have the ball and didn’t close them down quick enough.
