It is fair to say we are spoilt for choice in the centre back position at the moment. But if you were to rank the 5 defenders, how would it look.

For me it goes:

1. Cahill
2. Tomkins
3. Kelly
4. Sakho
5. Dann

Anyone agree with me?

Sakho was an absolute beast when he first came to the club and was one of the best CBs we've ever had, but hasn't been so impressive since his injuries and probably won't be the player he once was. Let's hope the same doesn't apply to Tomkins.

Right now Cahill is the best without question. His partner will be Tomkins or Sakho depending on who recovers best, but right now we really have no way of knowing how good they still are.

I agree with that order. Anyone know what % of games Sakho has played since joining? Would have been a great signing if he wasn't always injured.

I can't bring myself to put a name at the bottom of that list. At their best, they would all do a great job. The challenge for Sakho, Tomkins and Dann would be in forcing their way into that starting 11 and getting to the point where they're at their highest level. That's especially true for Dann who realistically could need 5-10 games that we would struggle to give him. But let's be clear...what a 5. Dann could easily get a championship club promoted. he has loads to offer.

Seems like an ironic question. There really can't ever have been a time when we have had such a glut of decent centre-backs. We're very lucky.
