Although I am a fan of LM, there is no doubt in my mind that Cahill is a born leader and did a great job yesterday. That was a very competent team performance led by Cahill.

Captaincy doesn’t seem to be helping Luka’s game and Cahill is a natural so let’s capitalise while we have him.

Fully agree with this, I feel he'd be more respected by refs, he did a great job yesterday. The Benteke penalty against Bournemouth made me lose confidence in LM as a captain, he may get to focus on his game rather than passing it backwards and taking 'one for the team' every so often and picking up so many yellows

Never going to happen. What does anybody on here know about professional football leadership anyway? Do you really think everyone in the dressing room is going to nod and be happy if Roy takes Luka aside and tells him Cahill's a better leader. We deservedly won yesterday, partly because West Ham couldn't capitalise and looked shoddy at 1-1. He did a great job but Cahill's been here for five minutes. The last thing Luka wants after signing a well earned contract extension is for him to be told he's not worthy of the captaincy.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

However whether Luka should be in the team at all based on performances is another question. He has looked a liability with a couple of rash challenges a couple of times this season. Thought we looked fairly solid in both midfield and defense yesterday.

Strange one this.... I personally thought McCarthy and McArthur looked a very strong partnership. They complimented each other very well and certainly gave us a new dimension in Midfield. I guess the decision is whether you can play Milivojevic with McArthur and Mccarthy? Who would you drop? Kouyaté?

Cahill seems a more natural skipper. He talks a lot which Luka doesn't appear to. However Roy should NOT take the armband away this season.

Defo leave the armband with LM even if GC is more betterer. Would cause a rumpus we don’t need That said, I wouldn’t change a winning team so LM should wait for his next start. Might make him think twice about needless yellows.

Think Cahill would be a better skipper, but wouldn’t change it this season. He can still have a big influence without the armband.

Lets not get carried away . We could quite easily have been done yesterday had the hapless hammers taken their chances and VG hadn't been in the right place at the right time .

Cahill is an extremely experienced player and he brings that to the game in terms of his play. I'm not sure he's a talker though. But then I don't see it in Luka either. Maybe captaincy in this era is rare /otherwise overrated.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Cahill may not be a 'good talker' but his organisational skills are patently obvious. If anyone is going to improve Gaita's shaky liaison with his defenders it could be him. Luka is not the player many think he is and to collect 5 yellows in 7 matches shows up both his ability and temperament. Along with others he was absent in the 0-4 against Spurs. I would make Cahill the captain and keep James McCarthy
