Thought i'd give this a revival

The only restaurant I would recommend in Croydon Area is Galicia, my absolute fav but I haven't been there for a while so hope it's still as good.

Tried Turtle Bay recently, a new one, it was so-so

Boxpark is OK, not had anything that's blown me away from there yet.

Anyone else been anywhere recent that they would defo go back?

My wife and I used to frequent this restaurant many, many years ago when we were living in that locality. And we used to go to 'Lorenzo's' on the opposite side of the road.We haven't socialised in this area for many a moon.

What's the Greek place like by Galicia? Still there?

There's good restaurants in caterham. Chinese, tapas. The Cochin opposite Bollywood should be worth a go for genuine Indian food.

A good night out used to be the Tapas in Purley opposite Boots. A large bar you can actually pull at and lots of tables and buzz. There's one in selsdon but lower key.

Loved Lorenzos back in the 80's and 90's and had a nostalgic re-visit a couple of years back. Still run by the same family I believe but the very old fella (Lorenzo himself?) was not around anymore. Though he did look 80 himself when he was helping put with waitering back in the day.

Joanna's I found over-priced and a tad disappointing now compared to what it was like when it first opened. The Triangle is spoilt for choice now with eateries.

I know some people who frequent the 'Postal Order' pub so I am tempted to meet them there and then sample one of the eateries in the 'Triangle'.

Just remembered that my wife and I used to frequent a Thai restaurant in that vicinity, I think it was called the 'Tamnag Thai'.

Away from the 'Triangle', my wife and I and friends used to go to the 'Bunga Raya' in Thornton Heath - is this still there ?

Heard great things about Bunga Raya from work colleagues who had an Asian background though never went. Doubt it is still there but google streetview might be worth a peek.

Postal Order is very Weatherspoonery if you get my drift.

I heard it is a Weatherspoons pub so I know what to expect.
I think some chaps from the Conquering Hero have 'Migrated' to the Postal Order.

Having lived near the "Triangle" for nigh on 25 years until 3 years ago definitely recommend Tamnang Thai. I agree with the comment re Joanna's being a tad overpriced nowadays. Really like The Exhibition Room (directly opposite Joanna's and next to Lorenzo's) but the true gem (so much so try getting a table on a Saturday night less than 2 weeks ahead) is A Torre, a few yards down from Postal Order pub (one of the nicer Wetherspoons joints BTW), a family run Portuguese restaurant. Great food, great prices, family friendly and very authentic.
