Someone on a post saying they have layed a few bets on palace staying up.
What is this and why not just bet on them staying up.
Is it better odds to do this.?
I'm confused . com
How does it work and why do it ?

When you lay a bet on an exchange you're acting as a bookie taking a bet. Sometimes it's a good idea. If you're betting evens odds with your mates and the lay price is 4/5 or 1.8 then it's smarter financially to use the exchange.

When there's more than 2 people like to lay. When there's only 2 outcomes it's very close on the 2 exchange prices. Odds are almost always higher on the exchange than at the bookies. If not it's called an arb and bookies don't like you taking too many of them but you'll only do this knowingly and ready to be stake restricted.
