I'm a massive Smiths & Morrissey fan & i'm looking forward to his new album Low in High School coming out in November.

Also there is a deluxe edition of The Smiths album The Queen Is Dead getting released next month & I can't wait to buy both.

Hopefully he will be touring his new album in the UK soon & he has just released dates for the US tour.I've seen Mozza live 49 times so hopefully i'll be able to see him a couple more times in the near future.

Mozza is like marmite you either love him or hate him but to me he is an iconic genius & a poet.

I know alot of people hate him because he is very outspoken, I was wondering if there are many Smiths & Mozza fans on Hol?

Yes it is a great album & you have a great taste in music! The version of This Charming Man on the album is better than the original in my opinion.

The Smiths were a very original band with Morrissey's lyrics & vocals plus Johnny Marr is 1 of the greatest guitarists of his generation. They opened the door for many alternative guitar bands & have been a major influence on indie music. They will never reform though because Morrissey is very stubborn & hates the bassist & drummer plus he is a multi millionaire & doesn't need the money.I would pay £000's to see Mozzer & Marr on stage together but I can't see it happening.

Probably a fair few on here that are far too young to have seen the Smiths live and will never know the sheer electricity 4 guys on stage generated.

Being an old but I saw them firstly by accident (went to see the other bands on the bill,) then at University and finally 3 times on the farewell tour.

The re release of The Queen is Dead is eagerly awaited. I have pretty much everything released worldwide including some very rare vinyl and even an album on DAT.

But Mozza's solo work baffles me. First solo album is a stunner but in the main down to the beauty of Vini Rielly on guitar. I have bought other stuff but it blows hot and cold. Too many attempts at controversy and too often forays into second division music and dodgy lyrics. Much prefer the solo work of Mr Martin.

Same here. Twice. 1983? I went to see the headliners Sisters of Mercy and spent pretty much the entire time when unknown The Smiths were on stage with my back to them supping at the bar and not paying attention. Doh!

Saw them supporting The Sisters (possibly at University of London ?) May 83 the supporting the mighty Fall a couple of weeks later in Camden. They were as a bad coming on in leaps and bounds and it was the start of the flower waving!

Ah happy days!

Yes that was one of mine too. Small world. Deffo ULU. The other was the old Brixton Ace (the Fridge later on). What do you reckon we paid? About £3.50?
