Cameron showing that he learnt nothing from Blair's mistakes in Iraq. To make it worse we are repeating those same mistakes in Syria.

Years after the war eventually ends there and Syria is being run by a regime even worse that the present one, we will have another damning report. We never learn.

Whilst I would say the scale is 'smaller than Iraq' its pretty much exactly the same kind of s**tstorm that the UK blundered into with Iraq, and that both Cameron and Blair have to accept responsibility for these failures, that ultimately have made the world a much worse place by their actions.

Benefit of hindsight

Wanted to do something but not full on war. Understandable given Iraq.

Look at Syria. Everyone is now being slated for not doing enough about Assad. Alternative is they get involved in another war in the Middle east that can't be truly won (ie bring stability) If some sort of peace does ever come to Syria there will be another enquiry and more blame about what we could have / should have done.

A silly thought, but maybe they're not really ''mistakes''?

I heard he helped write the Quran..... in particular the bit about killing Kafirs.

Obviously leading a double life!

I'm probably one of Cameron's biggest critics but all of these claims are complete and utter BS.

I didn't agree with his and Obama's tepid response but essentially neither of them are responsible for what's happening in Libya.

It's your typical hindsight critical evaluation and commentary.

It's only fit for fish and chips.

Yeah...... all that getting rid of Saddam and children living longer now, 'mistakes'.

Topcat should try telling the Kurds it was a mistake.

You can't win in situations like this and it makes clear sense not to get involved in the first place. If you topple a hard line dictator then you just open a can of worms. Who knows what would replace Assad in Syria but it's very unlikely to be stability.

Do you think that mistakes weren’t made, ones that could have been learnt from?

Topping Saddam and Gaddafi (and Assad) may seem like the right thing to do, after all they were/are awful, barbaric regimes. However the mistake is to leave a vacuum where a person or a group replaces them who is as bad as the person just toppled.

The Kurds may well be better off, but the persecution has just moved on to someone else.

They killed the man that they themselves put in power in Iraq, created global terrorism and everything that's associated with it, all 'for the good of the children'.

You're right. Maybe they're not as bad as i thought.
