Anyone else see this? I can't see the issue - yes, there's a similar chord progression and bass drum but its a totally different and dissimilar song.

Given Led Zepp 'won' the case accusing them of nicking a chord progression in Stairway to Heaven, I'm not sure the Marvin Gaye fella has much of a chance.

When the time comes, I want die just like my Dad - at peace and asleep.
Not screaming and terrified.
Like his passengers.

If you have to pay for and credit sampling, he should for this. It's the same song with a different melody sung over the top.

There are only so many chords that sound nice together especially in a simple pop tune.

I'd have thought that it is virtually impossible these days to write a pop song that doesn't sound at least a bit like another.

And Ed Sheeran certainly didn't offer anything new. Already sounds dated.

Well new is certainly not always better, especially in music, and Ed has done a couple of good tunes.

That said, his attempts at rapping do deserve a punch to the face.

I've met him several times as my partner is a childhood friend of his cousin. I never have the heart to tell him that I hate his music. He's pretty down to earth to be honest.
I look at him more as a bloke that should be playing guitar around a camp fire to a bunch of pissed up spliff heads.

To be fair, if you stripped down most "pop stars" to their basics without all the paraphernalia of record company support and studio tricks, they wouldn't have much substance.

But he's already just a karaoke guy with a guitar - stripping him down would just leave an ugly ginge.

Please noooo!
Us pissed up spliff heads have enough problems (admittedly of our own making) without having to endure Ed bloody Sheeran too.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]
