What line of work would you pursue, what career path would you follow and in essence, with your knowledge now, what would you do differently?

Very little. Looking back there are things I would have liked to do but I am content where I am now. It took a while but maybe if I had taken another path / career I would never have got there

go to work in the mines in austrlia

earn $80,000+ a year

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have specialist skills getting lots of qualifications (mine site “tickets” like safety, vehicle, security and heavy rigid) will make you employable

even if you done it for just 2 years it will look good on your cv compared to working in a call center or a retail shop with an avg wage of £19k which i consider at that age is just existing living pay check to pay check

and you have the advantage of travelling the world instead of been stuck in your small town with nothing happening just going out drinking every weekend

I am not sure what approach I would take today, because from the time I left school National Service was around
the corner and this constrained my planning and thinking...thankfully not something youngsters today have to contend with.

In my case I would need to reverse back even further to be much more serious about education, which then as now is very important in choosing your future path.

I would be very very nice to my granny. An inheritance is the only way I could imagine moving out of home. Other than that can't say I regret any of the big decisions in my life and I would probably do the same. Probably work harder in my first Degree though, just for my own satisfaction.

I didn't know then, and it turned out well. So I'd say, don't worry about planning your life out from 18, go and live it as best you can.

I work with a lot of people who went into IT and programming because that's where the money was. And that's true, a generation ago.

Christ this could get deep... but..
I wouldn't have had kids until I was older. I would have continued with law and trained to become a criminal lawyer. Sadly left too late now

I would have never started smoking and never married by first wife (big mistake!!)
Apart from that, I wouldn't change anything.

There's a bloke down my road who walks round in a Tesco's carrier bag. Turns out he is a brighton faggot.
