With the ongoing controversy regarding the South Yorkshire Police with suspensions, possible criminal actions against them, and their very existence threatened in the wake of
the outcome of the Hillsborough enquiry, have not heard a thing for it seems, many months on their investigation into allegations against the singer.

All appears to have gone very quiet and it must be a living hell for him, going through all this for what seems to be a couple of years or more, with no charges, absolutely nothing.

Many will no doubt think, no smoke without fire, but why this extraordinary delay, I would like to know.

Probably because his defence team could prove that he was never left alone with his accuser at the concert where the alleged offence took place.

Last info from the police was that the enquiry had 'expanded into more than one allegation' - which basically looks like they are trying to find any way they can to pin something on him with little or nothing to go on.

Correct.
He was surrounded by Christian Police Association members, as I understand it.

If this really the case, why on earth don't they simply drop the case in the same way the Met. did against the Leon Britton and others, with no case to answer or insufficient evidence.

Why the ongoing witch hunt?

Hope you are right Becky.
I'm sick to death of the witch hunt.
They've caught some wrong 'uns and everybodys fair game.
(probably looked at him with doe like eyes and was asking for it though)

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

I'm much more interested in why he frequented The Elm Guest House 'brothel' where young boys were raped and one or two possibly murdered.

Probably because it was also a very discreet place for gay adults to meet up.

Remember, at his age, Sir Cliff was brought up in a time when homosexuality was illegal, and even after it was decriminalised in 1967 it was still, it general life considered an unacceptable way to be. He was promoted as the 'clean cut' alternative to Elvis and a 'family' type entertainer - just look at his films - so coming out would have been a real no-no.

Then he got into Christianity, where although some sections accepted gays, it was (and still is) unacceptable.

It is so surprising that he wanted to keep his private life private? His presence there does not necessarily imply any involvement in paedophile activities.

I feel the fact the TV cameras were tipped off and basically invited along to film the search of his house and so on comes across as a fishing exercise by the police. Innocent until proven guilty i know but it may be the police have good reason to believe he had carried out other offences and by throwing it into the public domain they are hoping others will come forward.

Well, no one with any credible claim has come forward so far in nearly 2 years, so that doesn't seemed to have been a very productive method for them, but has managed to ruin his life and reputation. Would trial by media be acceptable for any other crime?

I heard no further charges will be brought against him for the 'wired for sound' video. Police have confiscated the roller skates and walkman with Cliff being warned about his future behaviour

As a close family friend, i have said it before on these boards, he is innocent. Sadly, in this day and age, you can accuse anyone famous of anything and you are guilty and the damage is done.
