I'm for less government, but this is one of the times when there needs to be more checks, with bars, pubs, cafes & restaurants checked frequently and some sort of grading system in place like they have here A being the best through to D obviously being the worst. Also over here if they close you down they do it in style with huge fluorescent notices on the windows and doors telling people what the problem is. None of this clean it up & you can reopen bulls***...

Always admired KFC for providing you with a bucket - the very thing you need straight after finishing your meal.

I think the problem of 'less government' is that it inevitably leads to a reduction in regulation on business and a increase in the focus of government on regulation of individuals life and choices. Corporations are incapable of self regulation, they're barely able to abide by actual regulation. The whole 'Big Government' is generally a cause perpetuated for corporate freedom, by the same people who will support anti-abortion legislation and LGBT discrimination. I think ultimately, government must regulate, control and punish corporations as effectively as it does people who transgress against the law

It does not pay to think too much about kitchen hygiene when buying take away or eating out. I have had the misfortune of seeing a number of restaurant kitchens in a former life and what I saw there was in some cases like a scene from a horror film. I exaggerate not. The good news is that most bugs are killed in the cooking process. Just don't dwell on the food preparation because you will never eat out again.

A few years ago I saw the Purley KFC head chef hacking up some lard and putting it into the Chicken fryer from a plastic 5 litre ice cream tub. That's enough to put you off. Quite tempted by the double zinger burger though, without the zing maybe, and only if drunk and conveniently in exactly the required place.
