So another Brazilian has cancelled late on against the Notorious.

He's arranged to fight Diaz @ 170lbs.

Anyone follow the UFC/will be watching thua next weekend?

Surprised that this thread didn't get a bump over the weekend. I watched the build-up press conference last week which was very entertaining - two very contrasting characters. I don't like all of McGregor's chat - it's classless and not the behaviour of a 'true champion' as so many people were quick to call him even after he tapped out.

I was very glad to see him lose after all his talk. I really wish these 'stars' would be a bit more humble and it just makes it all the sweeter that he got to eat his words. Seems like everything is done to boost ratings these days.

Here's the finish of the fight. Fair play to Diaz he seems an honest lad and delivered on the modest prediction that he made before the fight.

It's a joke of a sport.

Their next big thing lasts about 1 or 2 fights before losing.

Yeah, what a load of rubbish having different people win and those at the top being continually challenged and beaten. Just like Leicester shaking things up in the Prem, it's completely killed the interest at the top of the table.

Not exactly comparable. What Leicester are doing would rank them in MMA equivalence as the greatest of all time, rather than a flash in the pan.

What we have been led to believe from the UFC hype in McGregor recently would be akin to Tyson Fury losing to a last minute replacement for Klitschko. Not to mention the way OTT lauding of Holm.

Not quite as black and white as that. McGregor has done most of the hype himself and what he says (whether you like it or not. I don't) people lap it up. After a while people buy into the hype and that's the problem. Also the fact that he stepped up two weight divisions was a huge factor.

I really dislike the trash talk and hype from the fighters. I think they should be better role models and gracious in the way the conduct themselves. UFC I can understand why they ride on the publicity because they're trying to grow a global brand and be seen as a mainstream sport.

All that shouldn't detract from what is a skilled and highly competitive and, in the ring at least, entertaining sport.

Its actually banned in NY State. Although that looks like being over ruled due to the amount of revenue it generates. *Cough* I'd make a packet as well.....

I think part of it may be that this has come up a few times recently on the BBC sport website and I don't know why they're wasting money on it, nor trying to promote it when it's not even a British fighter.

I could possibly understand if it was Bisping and he was unbeaten or champion, but he's neither and by all accounts got a home decision at the O2.

I don't find choking out, tapping out or pummelling someone on the ground in the head with your elbows and knees entertaining. They need better rules.
