Surely the most underwhelming transfer window period known in the club's history, as well as for many other Premiership teams?

I'm happy no one nicked our best players. That's the sort of thing that's often happened in the club's history of transfer Windows. (Which isn't actually that long a period in the club's history.)

We've added a striker, that was the only must-buy this month. We haven't sold any players either so still have the likes of Gayle to fall back on.

We have a good squad, there was no desperate need to buy playing staff at inflated prices IMO.

Parish was very fairly quoted as saying that when you are near the top 6, as we were at the start of the window, the range of players available to you to improve the squad narrows and the price increases. So, whilst I see a few marquee signings from other premier clubs, and Newcastle flashing cash again, are there many that have been snapped up that would immediately improve our squad. I am not talking foreign imports that might come good by the end of the season, immediate impact? Remembering that we cannot change our style of play or formation to accomodate them.

Most certainly not European.

Thanks to Man City it wasn't a complete non-event.

Have been hearing speculation that agents are holding out for the summer window when the money in the PL grows to obscene levels and the need to stay up is greater than ever.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

You can only do an evaluation at the end of the season. Whilst buying x, y and z player may seem great to some now will they actually perform as expected - that is the question still to be answered.

Generally foreign imports take six months to get acclimatised to this league - Souare joining last January is a perfect example.

The bottom clubs have, rather obviously, been the most active.

Newcastle - spent loads but not one defender and that is where they have real problems. Likely going to be good to watch for the next few months but whether they win enough remains to be seen. However, I think they will survive...just.

Bournemouth - Grabban for 7m - really? Afobe has made a quick start but will it continue? I hope they stay up though as they are always entertaining.

Sunderland - Their record at buying centre backs this past five years has been nothing short of atrocious. Now another two arrive and both from overseas. How they work out will determine whether Sunderland stay up or not - I am betting on the 'or not' bit.

Norwich - Some quite good buys but 'quite good' will unlikely be good enough to keep them up. I do rate Pinto but the rest are very average.

Aston Villa - Everyone knew they were already down so they spent this window convincing their own squad that this is the case.

Swansea - May well have been lulled in to a false sense of security by wins at home to Watford and then away at an Everton team who had both eyes on their LC semi-final. Really they have only swapped Shelvey for Fer and got in Alberto Paloschi of whom I know nothing.

For us, well, we needed a striker and we got one, a very good one. I am happy enough and look forward to some quality signings this summer.

So around eighty million spent by Newcastle; Norwich; Sunderland and Bournemouth with two of them likely to go down. As I said at the beginning it will be interesting to evaluate at the end of the season.

Pretty average all round id say. I'm glad we didn't buy out of panic obviously the right deals couldn't be done. Glad we got adebayor to bolster our attack. So not as bad as some people have been moaning about because we didn't spunk 30+ mill. As long as we get 9 points and finish 13-8th then it's all good. Then hopefully a few out and some upgrades in the summer.

25m spend this season ,3rd lowest in the division behind Swansea and Arsenal. 31 points ,key players returning. Shaping up nicely I feel.

Adebayor wasn't our first choice or probably in the top 3 but he was the best option for us to improve the attack, we wait to see how good.

Otherwise I'm pleased we didn't panic buy and can wait until the summer to give our first choice another shot. Reality is however the squad isn't good enough for a top 8 finish unless they all hit top form from now until the end of the season but I'd be fine with another 10th place finish, in fact very happy. In the summer though if SP wants to be a top 8 club he's going to have to spend a big chuck of money.

My evaluation of the transfer window is simple.

Looking at (some) of the comments on here and other social media outlets by Palace fans, I have come to the conclusion that a huge swathe of our support are thick as s***, have no emotional maturity and simply haven't got a clue about our club and how this whole transfer malarkey works in general.
