I've always found the Tube's fare system confusing & kind of out dated. It beats me why they just don't charge a standard fare that way everyone pays the same.
Works well here in New York $2-75 and travel anywhere you like.

Open your eyes, man. The picture clearly shows this particular station also caters for only partially-formed commuters. Why should they pay as much when using less resource? It makes perfect sense to introduce a "Zone 2/3".

That's got nothing to do with it a fare is a fare & should be the same whether you go one stop or right across the system. Old, outdated & convoluted.

I can see why this appeals but it would massively disadvantage South London which doesn't really have a tube network. If you extend it to the wider rail network then where would you draw the line? Some tube lines run to what is already outside zone 6 on the rail network.

Equally if this did happen it would see far more people seeking to use the network which is oddly not what tfl want. It's already overcrowded and creaking at the seams at peak times.

What I would like to see is integrated fares so if you say travelled on a mix of bus and tube from zone 1 to zone 3 a single fare covers both. At the moment you pay for bus and tube separately.

We should also look again at trams in central London to ease the congested bus network. (And stop idiots parking across bus lanes.)

Ridiculous idea, we've just invested millions in an overground system which helps ease the burden of travel into central London and all you're doing is subsidising tourists

Tourists who quickly upgrade to illegal immigrant status.

The tube/overground cannot cope now and when all the work on the new line and stations is completed that will quickly become overcrowded too.

Everything hinges on our decision to stay in the EU. If we choose to stay in London will just be permanently gridlocked on the tube/trains and roads. You might be better off moving to Essex/Kent and getting a speedboat.

It's not confusing, it's just a farking rip off as the drivers are grossly overpaid.

If we did have a standard fare it'd go up to a travel card price which is £17.20/£12.10 peak/off peak.

Covent Garden to Leicester Square on the Piccadilly line is the most expensive public transport journey on the planet (cost vs distance)

What a shame this was a whoosh. I thought Mr Plimsoll had a good line there.
