Credibility in tatters and another nail in Corbyn's coffin. Two weeks ago at conference they confirmed they would vote for Osborne's proposal on the fiscal charter, now they say they won't. This is boiling up nicely.... senior Labour MP's are furious, the BBC are even saying it's a shambles and the voting public (not the paid up ideological Labour membership)will distance themselves from Labour even further than they did last May.

I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

Their only mistake was saying they would support it in the first place.

Today we now know that we are dealing with the same old Labour that will run up debts and cannot be trusted. Have a look at Ireland's record on austerity, they've tightened their belts for seven years and it is budget day today. They can now look forward to some nice announcements from their chancellor now they are back to normal. All this Labour Keynesian guff doesn't work Dan. Edited by Hoof Hearted (13 Oct 2015 10.20am)

Even by her standards, Diane Abbott had an absolute car crash on the Today programme this morning on this subject:

Your beloved left is in tatters, like an old sexy flame from your past, that is now a haggard old pissed up tramp doing blowies for a fiver. I must just add, they are doing a spectacular job of handing the torries (on a silver platter) their third term in office. As for the Abbott creature it needs putting down, annoying waste of skin. What's all the fuss about? Firstly, the Conservative 'surplus' pledge is a nothing more than a legitimisation device to get yet more draconian pieces of 'social engineering' through Parliament. It is also a mean spirited target which enables the 'Out' camp to point at the money going to Europe as a cause rather than effect of our econmic impotence. A couple of right-wingers in the party don't like it? Diane Abbott...Ha Ha....she's just a better camouflaged self-centered careerist who's really not as 'left' as sh'd like us to believe. Obviously the re-birth of a proper Labour Party based on Socialist Values is going to be messy. Once they put the Blairites out of harms way - whether by de-selection or by imposing discipline - then a consesus policy porfolio can be followed. Untill then, every issue will be devisive, every debate will drive away some careerist hanger-on or closit Tory. Nobody should expect this to be anything other than a barely concealed internal civil-war but there is no room in Corbyn's Labour for anybody who is not willing to dump the post-Thatcher emphasis on Corporate interest in favour of a re-statement of political purpose as champions of the oppressed, the dispossessed and the exploited in our society. Make no mistake, the oppressed, the dispossessed and the exploited make up a very large segment of British society and one that is continually growing thanks to Osborne and chums. The Tories are a grand recruiting sargeant for Labour.
