Hello Comrades I will be posting each day enjoyable examples of Labour hypocrisy. Let's start with Comrade Jeremy's acceptance of his £125.000 salary plus pension plus chauffeur driven car. But he probably feels comfortable with it, following his private schooling and very comfortable upbringing. Even beats an unwell teacher's daily rate for staying home and posting non stop on HOL!!

We're all hypocrites and by the time we're old we should be worldly enough to realise this :-D. It's especially true of politicians, regardless of party, they make a career out of it.

Oldfella v oldcodger....... ? I wonder if this bout will be like Chris Eubanks v Nigel Benn! I was at the Benn v Eubank fight at Old Trafford in October 1993 - a hard fought draw! Now for today's Labour hypocrisy. Jeremy Corbyn talked of "zero hours contracts" in his victory speech, and said that he will do away with this form of "slavery" if he becomes PM. 68 Labour MP's have employed staff on zero hours contracts in the last 2 years. Over to you Comrade Jeremy, do keep us posted

Labour hypocrisy alert for today - Andy Burnham repeatedly rants that the Tories are privatising the NHS. 4.4% of NHS services were outsourced to private healthcare providers under the last Labour government. A further 1.5% has been outsourced since 2010.

It's not clear why this is hypocrisy. He almost certainly didn't choose where he was educated; his parents would have done that and quite possibly the experience convinced him private education was not a good thing. The litmus test would be where he educates his own children (if he has any.) The chauffeur-driven car is almost certainly a security issue; not a luxury issue. And the salary is what the job pays. He applied for the job and got it. He presumably didn't demand any particular salary. In the context of executive salaries today, 125k is not very much given his level of responsibility.

Over to you Comrade Jeremy, do keep us posted It's not clear how this is hypocrisy. It is only hypocrisy if Corbyn himself employs people on zero hour contracts. Do you have evidence of that? Otherwise, if in a few months, when he has had time, he has not passed a rule forbidding Labour MPs from hiring on zero hour contracts then it would become hypocrisy. But it is not now, as he did not make the rules presently in place.

A further 1.5% has been outsourced since 2010. It is unclear how this is hypocrisy as Corbyn was not responsible for Labour policy at the time these actions were taken. Furthermore, unless you have evidence that he voted FOR these policies then not only is he not hypocritical but, furthermore, he would have been actively opposed to the policies which, I agree, do represent hypocrisy by the party leadership at the time.

If anything, this thread is a compliment to Labour as it demonstrates an ability to compromise one's personal values in pursuit of the best policies for the country. The party could otherwise be accused of dogmatism and narrow-mindedness. You should be thankful if anything that Labour has not been doctrinaire but, rather, adaptable enough to make the policy decisions that the situation has dictated. What you're saying is that making the right choice when it contradicts your own position is hypocrisy. Others might see that as maturity and sound judgment. Edited by sydtheeagle (05 Oct 2015 5.56pm)
