I note that Zac Goldsmith was selected to be the Tory mayoral candidate for London via an online ballot, yet unions have been refused permission to ballot members using the same method.

Maybe the Mayoral candidate should be chosen using the "Falkirk" method of selection adopted by Labour nick?

With every chamber loaded.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Last time I checked, the Conservative party weren't a trade union.

Try harder, Nick.

I still think mypoint counts. If electronic voting or balloting can be used, why not let unions use it to ballot their members?

Interesting that no one from the left has any comment to make on this matter?

Because unions can't be trusted to be honest, open and fair as evidenced by Falkirk.

There is more scope for them to cheat the system electronically.... they don't have to bother sending out bullies to intimidate people.

Are you trying to say that the Tories don't instruct or influence their members on who to vote for? There is as much freedom in Trade Unions as there is in political parties - which is generally not that much. I've often thought the world could possibly be a better place without politicians but never felt the same way about Unions (although I too don't agree with the way they are run at times).

I'm pretty sure the Tories don't instruct or influence votes by "bully boy tactics" as evidenced at Falkirk... thugs turning up at people's homes intimidating them and union officials changing and/or destroying evidence statements.
