Anyone on here do a bit of vlogging [cue an innuendo tsunami]

Seriously though; I'm off to Florida next summer for 3 weeks and the kids are always going on about wanting to be the next Zoella etc. starting their own 'channels' and vlogging for their mates etc.

So for Xmas I've got each of them a go-pro...but I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to the best editing software to use (clearly not professional software)?

Over to you guys n gals

I'm not a vlogger but I do regularly work with them - if your kids are passionate enough about it then I'd say go for it and if it takes off they'll be milliionaires in five years and you can retire early.

Even if they don't make it big it could lead to a career in media/production/TV etc and either way you'll have some great memories on camera.

YouTube/Google actually have a lot of free resources for people looking to start/grow/improve their channels and (importantly) monetise them. Check out the events and advice on at their London studios, which are free to use:

Cheers Frickin.

Yeah I've watched a lot of 'how to vlog' stuff and there's a fair bit on there; but I cant find anything meaningful regarding editing software, hence the request.

Will take a look at your link when not at work.

Cheers

Sony Vegas is expensive but its what most people use. That or Premier Pro. Very powerful editing tools.

You can get a free trial of both to see how you like them. Both have plenty of guides on YT.

To buy, Adobe software is now subscription based [Link]

were as Sony Vegas is around £400.

Rendering times will be huge on less powerful PC's, though. Especially for 1080p.

Great stuff JL85...I've seen Premier Pro in action but think its too much for the kids to get to grips with at the mo.

For a free alternative try:

To be fair, in order to go down the Zoella route, they'll need to get to grips with one of these. It can seem daunting but generally, once you have your template set up (resolution, FPS and output format etc) the rest is dragging and dropping video and audio clips onto the timeline in the order you want.

Learning how all the other tools comes with time and just messing about with it.

Nothing against your kids but I can't stand anyone that calls themselves a blogger/vlogger/fashionesta or any of those other poncy t*** sounding titles, I mean someone wants to be someone who calls themselves zoella? this s*** breeds desperate divs who crave 15 minutes of fame.

I know what you mean...but its not exactly a new term...its more just a way for us to get some great holiday footage whilst at the same time introduce them to being more creative with their time then simply gaming or stuck to their phones. Its no big deal if it turns into being a fad for them as I got the cameras cheap
