I know Jim Henson was born in Greenville, Mississippi.

Frank Oz originally voiced Cookie....He was born in Hereford, Herefordshire but grew up in Oakland, California.

So it's probably a Californian accent.

I thought it was more East Coast. Maybe Maryland.

Cookie Monster's dialect is Standard American English -- as spoken by a chain smoking three-year-old. Cookiebonics, maybe?

Frank Oz was raised in Oakland (CA), but Californians weren't really noted for having any particular accent at the time. Many, if not most, of the people who lived there in the 1950s-60s were newcomers to the state like him. Unlike him, they came mainly from the American Midwest, which is the homeland of the accent we call Standard American.

Donald Pleasence is English, but I think his accent for Blofeld was a fairly generic 'eastern European', possibly an attempt at Polish. Blofeld was apparently born in Germany and grew up in Poland.

Mike Myers' accent for Dr Evil is - I'm pretty sure, without checking - based on the voice of Saturday Night Live creator/producer Lorne Michaels, who is Canadian, as is Myers.

Keanu Reeves starring as 'jonathan harper' in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

i reckon the accent is from somewhere in the colder reaches of Mars.

who else ?
