It’s sad we don’t see more black people at Palace matches, and even sadder that so many local black people choose to support the Ars* instead. It’s also a shame we don’t see many Asian people, presumably in general they prefer cricket. Yet Palace is the club that holds the English football record for staging the game seen by the greatest amount of people, with over 100 million people watching the club debut of Sun Jihai and Fan Zhiyi in China. As we consider how to grow our fan base and make Palace into the club it should be, it occurs to me we have a fantastic untapped resource. What we do have near to Selhurst is that great metropolis of Croydon, and specifically Lunar House. New immigrants are forced to come to our town. Many of them come from places where football is popular and will be looking for a local team to support. Shouldn’t we be making it really easy and attractive to support the mighty Eagles? And when our expatriate fan base grows, hopefully so will our international fan base by extension. I look forward to having a sklep in the Holmesdale, lots of interesting food choices and a bank of hookah pipes. Discuss.

Yeah, think of all that asylum seeker disposable income we’re not tapping into.

most of the black people i have met in London a) support Arsenal b) are not immigrants.
this is a massive untapped market for palace, especially given the demographic of our players for many years now. Perhaps we should put Bolasie, zaha and puncheon on a load of billboards across the capital.

How are we missing the boat? Palace sell out......Are you suggesting that we deny tickets from those who have the money ready to pay for them? Palace needs to maximise its income to compete. Football clubs aren't devices for social engineering. You can always start your own club and run it on those lines......Maybe call it Corbyn Utd.

Think a lot of migrants wish they had missed the boat
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

So grab the next wave early. Become THE club to support for new entrants to the UK.

Not just a colour thing is it. Look at the surrounding areas. You don't see any of the local Eastern Europeans at Palace either so if you're going to be silly at least make it relevant. Never understood the Arsenal thing. They weren't even good when the 1st generation Caribbean migrants came over and mainstream support was largely post Viv Anderson. I know Wrighty was pretty iconic among black lads my age. I just don't know why they didn't support Palace. Regarding support from everyone else who isn't English, there's no need to support the local team to fit in anymore with Sky. You just hang out in your own community and watch Man U.
