So China's economy is still growing bigger year on year, just not exponentially.

Countries with massive populations have large capacities for growth.

China is known to lie about its growth figures......It still maintains a very communistic view of capitalism.

Much of its growth was created by governmental state spending on infrastructure.......Which is necessary of course and not a bad thing for the time.....However many people get fooled into thinking that this is genuine economic health: it isn't

China will have to embrace certain market ideals if its economy is going to arrest its slowdown.

Hoof Hearted 25 Aug 15 10.59am

Worth noting that after recent falls of 12%, 6% and yesterday's 8%, the Chinese stock market is still up by about 40% over the last year.

It's one of the biggest bubbles ever seen and the Chinese Government has been doing all sorts of stuff to sustain it's value eg preventing large investors from selling holdings and now they are allowing pension funds to invest, which might slow the selling down, but it is still in need of correction.

Quite why other markets got spooked yesterday is a mystery to me.
