Was Philip Hammond right to use this language? Obviously a lot of you know where I stand on this one but is this fermenting hate? Or is he right? If so is he going to do anything about it? (Let's hope so).

He can't get top gear anymore, the migrants have taken over the local drug trade.

The language used by both the government and the media in relation this has been very carefully chosen to dehumanise what is going on over there to stop any sort of public support in the UK being fostered for those in Calais.

Quite depressing.

You're priceless. Good to see that money you took on Troll Crash Course 1.6 wasn't wasted.

The left wing's coverage on this has been quite predictable. They cry about these so called peaceful people and their right to come here, yet I see them rioting most nights, cutting down fences, threatening lorry drivers. They are marauding and the sooner something is done about it the better, but I can't see anything happening other than our weak political establishment caving in and letting them all in.

You lot don't know how fortunate you were to be born in an affluent, stable, peaceful western country do you?

I love the way the argument is about which two of the most false presentations of a situation someone believes you take, rather than a pragmatic resolution.

The illegal camps in Calasis have been a problem for nearly a decade, and allowed to persist and grow, rather than the French or the UK actually resolving the situation.

Unsurprisingly, now the French police have begun breaking up camps, the people who are 'losing their homes' aren't particularly happy about it, and resorting to desperate measures to avoid being sent back, moved on elsewhere (and forgotten about) or trying one last time to smuggle themselves into the UK.

I'm not particually inclined to sympathy, but I think maybe it shouldn't be that difficult to process whether or not someone is a candidate for Asylum, and the fact our requirement requires people to enter the UK in order to apply, creates greater problems (the pragmatic necessities of applying for UK asylum requires that people enter the country illegally).

Maybe they do know - and maybe that's why they are so keen to keep it that way!

Its a deliberately evocative word, that kind of overstates the case. Hyperbole. Its the lowest form of rhetoric.

We should only allow asylum to people who either we cannot process sufficiently quickly, or those who are fleeing warzones, oppressive regimes, persecution etc.

I say sufficiently quickly, because the UK is notoriously poor at processing asylum cases. Just getting legal aid and support can take several months. The whole system needs to be properly funded, staffed and unbiased by politics. It needs to be about the person making the claim, not what political factions can profit from.

One of the reasons for its affluence is Foreign Business and investment. The UK has no real industry of its own, and its service industry profitability for the last 5-10 years has been increasingly dependent on the availability of a cheap, disposable work force (that has increasingly been migrant).
