They might not be, but it doesn't matter if you f*** about with the marks required to pass. Candidates needed under 34% to get a C and 60% for an A, according to the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). 60% for an A. Sixty! No wonder they wanted devolution. They'll have a nation of straight A students with a threshold that low. Edited by Stuk (04 Aug 2015 5.07pm)

Education is a joke now in this country. I hear so many kids now boasting about having A grades then you try to have a chat with them about a few things they should know and they do not have a clue. Course work should be the key to learning not exams and teach what is needed in the real world.

As we have discussed, immigrants do not come to claim 'freebies'.

Having junior Maples going through exams in the past couple of months it infurates me how the exam boards mess up the exams they set. Teachers get the students prepared according to the curriculum then a load of random cr*p appears in the exams that nobody could have predicted. This year I can vouch for multiple bizarre GCSEs and International Baccalaureate exams, last year A levels. My little Maples have worked harder than I ever did, nowadays school children are in a more competitive world and have to rise to it, hence the higher performance. Especially with the new breed of tiger mums. Don't knock the improvements in performance, teaching should get better year on year and students should have to up their act. It seems they have been, no?

It's trickling up all the way to the top levels of education. That Wendy-burger flipping will need 3 years at uni AND a masters by the end of this decade. But we've all got little bits of paper stuck on our walls telling us all how smart we are, eh? Anyone know a plumber?

I worked for a big city financial a few years ago and it didn't take them long to realise that the long line of graduates, who couldn't actually wipe their own arses academically speaking, coming through their doors with an armful of A***** and 2:1's was all relative so they then started actually testing them before they came for basic English and Maths skills that my 11 year old would probably know to thin them out a bit Edited by The Sash (06 Aug 2015 8.19am)
