I've seen people put on threads about "android boxes" telling people to get them and that they are £45 etc but I know nothing about them. Can anyone give me any info of literally everything they do and how they work etc please?

They're a fantastic bit of kit... [Link] - that's a good starting point. They're a decent site, although they're not the only ones. They do more top end ones. They're essentially a little box akin to a cable TV box with wireless internet, a wired internet port and an HDMI cable that runs android. You plug it in to your TV and depending on who you get it from, you'll likely have hundreds of free TV channels streaming over the internet. Quality can be mixed, but you'll generally be able to find every premier league game online for free. They run a bit of software called Kodi and there are limitless addons you can stick on top of what it comes with. A good site to see the range of addons is: [Link] There are also countless paid addons which start at as little as 99p and up to about £15 a month to get full HD streams for hundreds of channels. I won't link any publicly in case there are copyright concerns although I understand that watching them isn't illegal. You'll generally get all the Bein Sports, Sky Sports, BT Sports, Fox, NBC etc etc plus movies and what not. Just to say that I don't actually own one as the Kodi software can be used on any Android, Windows or Mac device, so I tend to just plug my PC in to my TV or use my phone or tablet. The principle is the same and the box is a lot less faff though! Edit: A thread worth checking out over at the other site: [Link] All credit to HDEagle. Also, it turns out that with a bit of fiddling, an Amazon Fire Stick can do everything one of those boxes can!

So you pay a one off fee of like £45 and get channels like sky sports etc? And you get WiFi off of it too for free? Or have I got that wrong?

If you want illegal streams for sports or movies you have a few options to try some plugins or people sell subs. I'm not a fan of these things they do a job but not the greatest you can setup an old pc to do this and it will be far more simple with better upgrade path most people know they as htpc.

I have a friend who got a a raspberry pi for £50 and run kodi on it. You get any film or TV show ever made in HD quality. Your free sports streams won't generally be any better quality thanth the ones you receive on your pic now, but I pay a subscription of £20 3 times a year to get HD streams of any sport shown anywhere in the world. I also have a friend who just yesterday also got a full sky add-on sorted. You don't need a raspberry pi essentially as you can run kodi via your laptop.

I bought one off a guy for 70. Brilliant. Various programs and apps installed. A Few apps pretty much have every TV show and film you can think off in hd quality. Have to stream off internet better to connect With Ethernet but wifi will do. Currently got an app which has all sky channels in hd quality. Last year was good for football as bad app for hd premier league games regardless if they were in the UK. Only problem is apps come and go, considering its piracy and all.

Kodi is the key...but you need the tvaddon version There is a version available for most operating systems. The Android boxes you will see advertised will have a version of this preinstalled I have 4x...one for each tv...I also have it on the tablet and PC What is tvaddons? How it works (technical view but gives you an idea as to what it looks like) Best tv/movies Addon (Genesis) Edited by Lyons550 (28 Jun 2015 4.37pm)

I have just bought the apple tv2 jailbroken with kodi on it. Quite simply, it's amazing. I have all sports, films, tv I could imagine. Latest films like Jurrasic Park are clearly ripped from a cam or screener but the majority of films and tv are in HD and some have the option of 1080, 720, 480 etc so you can chose whats appropriate for your bandwidth. I haven't not been able to find a film I've searched for or TV show including all the latest netflix boxsets etc. Sport is all sky sports channel, dedicated footy channels and much more. Only downside is that if a film has subtitles the chances are they won't be in the film, like Planet of the Apes.
