Don't get me wrong, I've bought it in the past and I'm looking to claim as I wasn't even working at the time.

But how are people getting payouts of several times their credit limit for what would've have represented a loss of a few quid, on a product they knowingly purchased and was sold lawfully? I was just overcharged on my phone bill and they just gave me the money back, not 8x the total bill. Overdraft charges were a big scandall a few years back with everyone clambering to reclaim those which seem less fair but were rarely repaid with much additional compensation.

Lloyds are setting aside £12bn. Which at the current governement share is £2.28bn of public money. The figures are mind boggling.

I don't agree with it at all, never have.

It basically meant you were too lazy to read the paperwork.

I'm just sick and tired of companies calling me up to try and get me to claim (usually saying they have all the details and know already how much I am owed......wtf!). Now they have even somehow got hold of my mobile number!

Automated calls should be illegal.

Only used by the worst dregs in society as it is.

It's the text messages that constantly come through for PPI & also how there's £2056 waiting in their bank account to pay me for an accident.

It's the UK's version of the African prince scam.

We've been here before. In most cases it was added without the cardholder's consent.

So you didn't get any paperwork to read and explain what was what? Cos I get reams of s*** with anything financial that I do.

Exactly. Besides it'a already been established that the bank misled people over this. We're not talking a few people signing up to something they didn't need, this was tens of millions of policies with almost half of those people unaware they even had the policy.

The banks knew they were shafting people and it's something they routinely do as it is, so I'm not sure why we should be solely blaming the consumer.

I just got a rare PPI call on my mobile. Almost like someone is taking the pi55.

If I did that for everything, I'd never get anything done. I'd still be reading books on law trying to fully understand the Power of Attorney I agreed to regarding my parents.

The problem was much more about how banks encouraged people to take out an insurance they didn't need (or in some cases couldn't use).

It violates the nature of 'Good will' in business regarding specialist knowledge and the role of an advisor, if they offer advise that is contradictory to the needs and interest of the other party.

Of course I am bias as I got 4k.

Sure, people should read the paperwork, hence they didn't get damages on their refunds (just the sum and interest). That said, selling people things they don't or can't use, is also against the law.
