I always thought he was overrated (and his best work ended 45-55 years ago) compared to some of his contemporaries who never crossed over as much into the mainstream and who died at a younger age( ie Junior Parker or Elmore James) but he undeniably was responsible for opening a lot of people's eyes to the blues and the originators of the music rather than the

BB was the first Blues artist I heard...on the OGWT back in the 70's, so he opened me up to that music. Saw him live once, around 10 or so years back, and I'm glad I had the chance. RIP BB
