Dear fellow HOLers, I am trying to raise money for a 5-year old child with hydrocephalus to have life-saving surgery. Some of you know I volunteered last year at Amatsiko, a community organisation based in the Kabale region of south-eastern Uganda, and you can be assured 100% that any money raised will go directly to help Adera and two other children with hydrocephalus in the same district. I would be very grateful if you considered making a donation, however large or small, to this cause. Please see my GoFundMe page for more details of what we're trying to do, and to make a contribution: [Link] Thank you very much. Mods - any chance of pinning this for a bit please? Many thanks.

Guys, thanks so much for your contributions, they really are very much appreciated. We have only got to raise another £46 to reach our target, so hopefully we'll get there, but if we are struggling near the end of the month then Ian J, I might take you up on your generous offer. Thanks again and I'll let you know as and when we reach our target, and what happens from there with the children we're trying to help. Edited by Seth (12 Mar 2015 12.51pm)

You lot are great, thanks so much! Donations had dried up for a few days and we didn't know if we'd make it, but we're very close now and I can't thank you HOLers enough. Some of you may know CPFC donated a set of kits for a community sports project I volunteered at in Uganda last summer, and now the Palace family has stepped up to the plate again. Thanks so much As those who read the GoFundMe page know, there are 2 other children as well as Adera with hydrocephalus in the same district. The £250 target would be enough to get them all assessed by CURE, and for Adera's surgery, which is almost certain to be recommended. Any money we collect above that figure will go towards the other children's surgery, if that is what the doctors advise. Any surplus beyond that would be donated to CURE, who do amazing work in Uganda and other parts of the developing world: [Link] I told my friend Alex, who leads the organisation I volunteered at (Amatsiko: [Link] ) that our fellow Palace fans (I converted him and several others to the ways of the Eagle when we were in Uganda) had been donating generously, and this is what he wrote to me in reply: "Amazing this is so overwhelming. Thank you God, thanks Seth, thanks to crystal palace fans. Im amazed and cant stop smiling. This is life changing experience how pple are compassionate" You can see how much it means to him and your donations will literally change the lives of these children. I'll keep you updated as to how things go with Adera and the other children. Thanks again

The target has been reached but any excess will be donated to CURE. Come on people, dig deep

I would suggest that if it's likely that sufficient people will donate to CURE from this point in that a separate "scheme" be started but this time tied in with Gift Aid which will add a further 20% to all donations received

We did it! £260 raised for Adera's Fund! Thank you so much to those who contributed. We have now raised enough for three assessments and Adera's operation. Please continue to donate and share as any further amounts will go towards more children with hydrocephalus getting the life-saving treatment they need. Palace fans are awesome!!
