Its definitely of the time. Apart from City with Haarland, none of the teams you mentioned really have a proper CF. Now not saying that JPM is a proper forward, but if you put in 5/10 crosses a game, I'd fancy him to get on the end of a couple. As much as it pains me to say it, its what killed Benteke. He was great in the first season, but we stopped crossing. Benteke did not disagree

The less involved we are in that the happier I will be. Yep. So far we've managed to stay put with the buffer we had. But now the wins and losses will be visible. If we lose on For the optics and confidence tomorrow is about as 'must win' as they come

The double-edged sword for us is whilst we may consider all these as 'potential win' games for us in the run which seems encouraging, equally, if we do lose, the consequence is points gained for those around us and our plummeting. '11 cup finals', 'all or nothing', '6-pointers'. All these phrases seem appropriate.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

He was great in the first season, but we stopped crossing. I remember Benteke's second season well. He started it badly by missing several big chances (under de Boer) and then got injured. Came back and continued the trend including the last minute pen against Bournemouth after Allardyce sacked him from the job for his previous miss at Watford on Boxing Day 2016. I recall a stat which said he missed 20 from 23 big chances in 2017-18 and can bear that out from watching the lazy overpaid fanny. All he needed was a goal we kept hearing. But he started the following season equally badly and the howls of derision after two misses at home to Southampton were memorable. Cascarino had a column in The Times and I remembering writing he thought Benteke had the yips. Not only that he continued his lazy ambling around and failed to work hard to play himself back into form or contribute when he wasn't scoring goals. 2019-20 started with a couple of statuesque performances against Everton and Sheffield Utd when he was finally written off and Ayew played up front scoring away to United and home to Villa in the next two games before going on to be our player of the year. There's not much more pisses me off than being told he was good at holding the ball up (he patently wasn't he was rubbish at it) or that he was ruined by Roy and lack of crosses.

I have to agree with that so in many ways it is surprising that Leicester are where they are and I guess the same applies to West Ham. It maybe staleness setting in and if so the introduction of Roy just may well be our salvation.COYP

Always boils my blood when people say that we miss Benteke’s hold up play. A myth just like his left foot
