If we are not interested in CA how come his odds at sky bet have come down from 7/4 to 2/1 sounds like a smokescreen to me There's not much between the hose odds, hardly a drastic change. More than likely a reaction to someone's bet, rather than something they know. In a market, the opening set of odds reflect the bookmakers research and adjustments thereafter simply reflect where the money is going. Even if a bookie pretty much knew Austin was going to Palace, if all he money was going in the opposite direction his odds of going to Palace would drift.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 Personally I'd be glad if we didn't sign Austin. Not once has he ever seemed to be interested in coming to us (well that's what it seems from the media as we are forever linked with him)

Rumours that QPR are after Gayle on loan. Make weight maybe?

Rumours that QPR are after Gayle on loan. Make weight maybe? We could wave the gayle loan signing fee from Rangers in return for a cassh adjusted fee for Austin.

Any chance of a swap loan deal with a few £'s involved from us? Austin doesn't want a permanent move as he is waiting for a big pay day in the summer. A chance to play in the prem for 5 months, score a few goals and maybe make the England squad for the Euro's, also enhances his chance of a big move and wouldn't do us any harm if he scores a few. QPR won't get a bean for him in the summer so anything now may seem like a bonus. If it worked he may enjoy himself enough to sign for us anyway. ( not sure if I really want him but just playing devils advocate)

Why on earth would Charlie Austin want to come to us or anywhere else in the January window when he will become a free agent in the summer and can then pocket the transfer fee himself. Our 'lack of interest' in him may well be due to the fact that QPRs unrealistic asking price when added to the huge signing on fee he would no doubt expect in lieu of what he could get in the summer makes it an uneconomic proposition.
