Relegation is so hard to call this year. From 12th to 20th can go down. I think it will be between Southampton, Bournemouth, West Ham, Leeds and Forest. I see Dyche getting results at Everton.

2 wins and 6 draws should be enough for Palace to stay up. But a lot of games are against teams fighting for their life which may make it the worst time to play them: Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Everton, Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth, Forest.

Hopefully Palace do enough maybe formational change can also help something like a 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2. Relegation would be the worst thing for Palace.

Relegation??
Better get used to it as it is coming our way IF a decent Manager is not appointed very soon.

Workrate of our entire team not good enough. Add to that some sketchy technical skills, some pretty weak players and this is what you get. The manager had to be seeing our running stats too. As others have said, most teams don't have a brilliant striker.
The guarantee is they work harder than us, and probably smarter.
This points to a failure in coaching and management.
I agree the squad is average, even quite poor, but better than how we've played for a few months now.

Agree with all of that.

Lots of factors to be considered in football however quality and work rate seem to be the two most influential. As it stands we should have enough quality but the work rate, beyond what we've all witnessed and our subjective opinions, is statistically the lowest in the league.

You throw in rumours of infighting and confidence at an all time low and it begins to paint a very bleak picture indeed.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

there doesnt seem tobe any infighting just lack of belief , 2 week break has come at the right time , regroup maybe new manager before the 1st game , problem may have been PV was to close to them , more like a friend than a manager .

I still believe we we will be ok , little bit of luck and we can get going , i played golf alot when i went through my bad spell didnt get any luck well tell a lie bad luck , then got a bounce my way a chip goes in and then 12 weeks of no idea , back to playing off single figures .

Bottom line is start up again and lose the first 2 were really in big trouble , start of with 4 points min and we will be ok COYP

Agree with just about everything you have stated.

The reality is that Patrick Vieira was not the entire problem. The lack of investment in the squad, leading to the lack of strength in depth has caused it. The last time it could be addressed was January and once again not enough was done. The Board must have believed we had enough to limp over the line. Sacking the manager and bringing in a new guy, is unlikely to bring in a massive upturn in our fortunes this season. I suspect the die has already been cast. Do we have enough quality to stay up, or are there 3 worse teams than us? Only time will tell.

That's why I want us to get a permanent manager now, not a stop gap. If we get a stand in manager, it is showing the Board are making the same mistakes and haven't learned anything. Introducing a new style takes investment, time and belief. If we have to go backwards to move forwards, so be it.

Relegation will be painful. But to try and plaster over the cracks with short term thinking means that the Board are far more interested in losing on their investment short term than they are the club moving forward in their playing style and philosophy.

The most annoying thing is at the end of last season we were in a great place. The failure to add three or four more quality players to the half a dozen we already had has lead to this.

Opting for relegation is just fvcking stupid. Sorry to interrupt

previously, we had the oldest squad in the Premier League. Does anybody know the stats for currently ?

there are at least a 3 old men on our team who are really not fit enough for the rigours of the Prem. They were legends, but the Prem is very unforgiving.

Agree entirely! I believe Parish stated that the summer transfer window is much better, as all matches are finished, so there's no need for panic buying? Hopefully we'll still be in PL and take our time to replace players like Ward who might be moving on, etc?

Didn't say we should opting for relegation. What I have tried to express is I don't think we are going to get a miracle cure now. The massive imbalances in the squad are what have primarily put us in this position, that can't be changed.

I don't believe in a Red Adair who can come in and firefight our way to guaranteed survival. Roy and Sam failed in their last jobs. Ahh, Watford were a basket case and didn't have good enough players. Have we? I'm not sure.

Be prepared for all options. To not be is fvcking stupid.

If the summer window is that much better why did he leave such gaping holes in the squad last summer?

I reckon this summer we need following

1. Replacement for Ward or Clyne (possibly both)
2. Replacement for Luka
3. Replacement for Riedeweld
4. Another left back
5. Another striker
6. Replace Mateta
7. Replace Zaha
8. Another loan/replacement for Lokonga
9. Replace McArthur

I haven't added Ayew or Tomkins to that and am realistic that we won't get all of them. It's going to be huge task.

I agree relegation will be a bad thing. I'm just starting to accept that it may well happen, because outside 6-7 players our squad is as weak as the others around us.

I read the average age has gone down down from something like 27.3 years to 26.9 years.
I thought this didn’t sound right as we had bought some younger players.
However, on closer analysis we have Guiata, Clyne/Ward, Schlupp, Ayew and Zaha often starting and then squad players such as Luka and Tomkins and then a few players in their mid twenties.
We’re still one of the older teams.

On a separate point is it ideal going into a relegation battle with so many players we will depend upon going out of contract? (Ward, Clyne, Zaha, McArthur, Luka, Tomkins and possibly Schlupp and Ayew).
It means they may have less ‘skin in the game’ so to speak although they would possibly have to forfeit a staying up bonus.

I know we are in dire straits at the moment and this relegation carry on is very stressful but everyone has got to admit that they are excited for this Leicester game.

Facts are that yesterday's result was our second worst this season and surely underlines why we need an effective, motivated manager appointed quickly to arrest any slide to certain relegation.
Do not need SP,endless prevarication, dither and delay!!
