Relegation 22/23. Assured sadly. A team that has gone 13 without a win is going to magically and automatically win 4 or 5 out of 10 !!

Which after another cracking showing today is precarious and probably false given the games in hand and better goal differences of enough teams below.

For those interested in positives. 50% of the remaining games for the 'gang of 9' are among themselves. 80% of our remaining games are V the 'gang of 9' i.e 8 out of 10. 30% of remaining games for the 9 are V top sides. We only have 1 game V a top side i.e 10% As has been said its in our hands.

I am not optimistic, but of course we can stay up. However today's team, with Ward, Tomkins, Luka and Schlupp as 4 of our starting 11 is unlikely to beat anyone in the Premier League. If we can start with a line-up including Guaita, Andersen, Guehi, Doucoure, Zaha, Olise and Eze, in my view then supported by a combination of Richards, Clyne, Mitchell, Lokonga, Hughes and Edouard, then there is a team well capable of achieving the probably 12 points required from the remaining 10 games mainly against opposition whose talent does not exceed ours.

I’m gradually coming to the conclusion that we don’t deserve to be in the PL. Too many poor transfer windows, with hardly any oven ready players ever signed, no cover in certain areas and then a string of long term and short term injuries. This combined with some pretty poor management, strange tactics and even stranger selections and substitutions and it’s no surprise to me that our luck ran out and we are now getting our just rewards. I look at the games this season and I genuinely think we have played well maybe 3 times with another handful of average games and the rest have been pretty shocking. Maybe it is time we got relegated, have a clear out of old expensive players, bring back all the loan youngsters and promote a few from the academy. With the parachute payment you get there is be reason why we can’t build a decent young squad and be competitive in the Championship. To be honest I’d probably enjoy watching it more plus you get more games to watch and played at a decent time on a Saturday.

I agree with you on most points although I'm not sure that you can hold the club responsible for the injuries with the exception of the sick notes that we bought

We have a first XI capable of giving all of the teams below us a good game, so if we got the fabled new manager bounce we could feasibly almost secure safety within three or four games. However, given these games are six pointers it could also go the other way! I still think our best chance is a no-nonsense man motivator. We don't need fancy tactics. We don't need pragmatism. We need someone who will come in, rally the troops and lift the heads of key players like Zaha, Olise, Lokonga and even possibly Eze. If we wanted calm, stability and structure then why the hell did we get rid of Vieira? Funnily enough the team in the studio for yesterday's game used the Dowie-ism bouncebackability yesterday. We could do with some of that right now.
