I know its all doom and gloom at the moment but after last night The only change in my predictions are that Saints have 1 less point. I had them down for a draw.

If we look at the 9 teams remaining games it makes interesting reading in terms of top teams to play and relegation dog fights.

-----------------Top teams-------Dog fights-------Others
Southampton---------5----------------4--------------2
Leeds---------------5----------------6--------------1
Bournemouth---------3----------------6--------------3
West Ham------------4----------------5--------------3
Leicester-----------3----------------6--------------3
Everton-------------5----------------4--------------2
Forest--------------5----------------4--------------2
Wolves--------------2----------------5--------------4
Palace -------------2----------------8--------------1

The 'others' games are not that easy. Fulham and Brentford for example are both fighting for Europe. As southampton found out last night.

We are in the best position with our destiny in our own hands. We just have to find some form.........

Southampton. Leeds, Everton and forest are in the toughest place, with 5 top sides to play each.

I think we will be 13th or 14 going into the international break. To be honest I would love to see wolves beat leeds.

I love this. Great to see everyone else with more top teams to play than us.

Not that we wanted to be where we are now, but its pretty straight forward for Pat and the boys now. Its all in our hands.

It's the straw to which I am clutching certainly.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Forest are a physical (dirty) side and defensively pretty inept. They should be heading back down to the Championship.

I currently have 4 teams within 2 points of each other at the death with forest being one of those sides.

The final day could actually be a dream come true for sky this season!

The biggest certainty IMO is that we will be relegated without this change.

Seems like we need to scrape 1-2 wins against anyone we can, and then avoid losing to whoever ends up being the dregs of the league. We have a slim point advantage, and not the worst goal differential, so it seems like other bottom feeders should have to play more risky football to try to get 3 points off of us.

9 points from our remaining 11 matches should leave us safe. 2 W, 3 D, 4 L ? It's really not that difficult, it just seemed that way under PV's hopeless football. Even 1 win, against anyone, suddenly is a huge boost to survival. The only way we can be guaranteed to go down is if we don't win another game, which seemed likely under PV.

I expect Wolves to overcome Leeds today, in which case we drop a place, and after we are soundly beaten by Arsenal the season begins in earnest. If our players suddenly turn into world beaters then it would seem to me that they were not playing for Vieira, despite his best efforts with confused tactics. I believe the new coach has an enormous task on his hands to get this group running with purpose again. We shall see.

Wolves winning is the best result for us. They have the easiest run-in after us. Leeds on the other hand have a really tough run-in. Therefore it will be a leeds win!
