This post has been merged from a topic called 'Benteke.' by Guntrisoft When Wilf is not playing Benteke should play from the start. He provides an outlet, remains an excellent target man and a good passer of the ball. I would like him to stay with a reduced salary for another year. Unlikely to be offered 100k+ by anyone else so would surely be amenable to some kind of deal. Bats is the one who seems to be lacking effort. If we keep Benteke and Ayew that still leaves room in the squad for another option.

I may get out to the sword but his very limited minutes this season he has looked a lot more passionate, hungry than batshuyai , I think 1 goal and we will have the real benteke back! (I hope) ....and then as soon as the extention is agreed..... normal service resumes

The Evening Standard has run a story that we’re offering Benteke another contract. I know we lost in the end but we were the better team when he came on last night. I would start him next game.

He needs balls in the box and the service to him has been diabolical. He has been in a perfect position the last 2 games and shocking passes from McCarthur and PVA possibly robbed us of points.

Not distracting from CB performance today 5 goals from 54 games is not good .He needs to be consistent and will earn his place in team.

If those two goals give him the confidence to do what he has done in the past then happy days.

Be interesting to know how many of those 54 he has started and how many have been 10-15 minutes. Hopefully this will boost his confidence. He does seem to suit us better and the 2nd goal was really well taken.
