Can’t say I was filled with confidence when I saw the line-up but absolutely delighted to get off to a winning start.

Better passing from midfield required. We could have scored 3 or 4 on the break with Southampton’s high press. As much as Southampton presses hard and look good going forward, if they defend like that against other PL teams they will ship a lot of goals.

Eze displayed poise,balance and vision.
Looks a great buy.

We would have lost had WH been in goal !

They will be knackered after that.

A make-shift defence stood up very well.

Zaha netted twice with control must be listening.

Then he blasts a sitter into the side-netting and Danny Ings is denied by Guita.

Not complaining though.

Got Battered?? I don’t think so... yes they had a couple of chances and we defended deep but they moved the ball too slowly.... great win.. Wilf deserved a second....

Guaita MOM for sure - whole team played well defensively. Those 3 points will be important with next 3 league matches looking difficult. Eze looked good in cameo appearance and Mitchell had a terrific performance today as well. Shame Wilf didn’t finish it before the last siege by Southampton who looked rather poor today but we got the points. VAR also did well today. Hodgson takes a lot of credit for how he set us up today :-)

After the way we ended last season it was a massive result for us today. If we can keep players fit we are going to have a big year.

Jeffrey Schlupp completed just one (1) pass in his 81 minutes on pitch for Crystal Palace, the fewest by any midfielder to have played 60+ minutes in a PL game across the last four seasons.

Dont like this offside rule it should be feet or part of the body scored with on the attack defenders move up forwards move forward body angle alone rules off an offside even if the feet are before the offside line.

Great start to the season. Unlike us to score first but Guiata kept us in front despite them dominating possession. Eze looks useful. wardprowse continues to prove that he really is a nasty little s*** ... trying to wind people up...picking up the ball before taking a free kick so the keeper has to recheck his wall.

Pretty impressed with Eze. The presenter's snide "welcome to the Premiership" as Ward-Prowse robs him on first touch... then some delightful play that puts Walker-Peters flat on his arse:

Welcome indeed :-)
