I have watched since 1963 and it is really hard to choose just one player, but maybe I would go for Kenny Sansom. An honourable mention however for Gerry Queen and his contribution to the best football headline ever. After an evening game with Blackpool I think, during which Gerry punched an opposition player on the jaw, only the Daily Mirror came out with "Queen in brawl at Palace".

My favourite headline was from The Sun when Gerry was not paid as much as he wanted " 'I'm A Skivvy at the Palace ' says Queen"

As you can tell from my user id Gerry Queen is one of my all time favourite players. Signed from Kilmarnock for 40,0000 made his debut and scored against man utd in our first ever game in the top flight. Would chase everything and was our top scorer at the end of the season having survived relegation on the last game. Best goalkeeper John Jackson
Been to Anfield twice seen 14 goals and my team haven't scored any |

My favourite game is Crystanpool, Favorite player, probably Wrighty but I tend to love the players that love the club the most. Love Darren Ambrose for instance for when he said that being at Palace was his best time, Brighty, cant say he's not red and blue and of course, Mr Speroni although strangely my fav goalkeeper of all time would have to be Nigel Martyn. Just from videos and interviews, I would have loved to have seen Vince Hilaire.. So actually, it's a tough one but despite the fact that he's an Arsewipe fan, Wrighty, with an honourable mention to AJ and Mr Murray, who I love despite the fact that he played for both the darkness that is the weed and the most beautiful team in the beautiful game.

IMO no doubt top 3 in this order; Sansom I’d just like to mention a couple of personal favorites - not in terms of greatest ever but just favorites of mine - Jerry Murphy, wand of a left foot and Billy Gilbert - how he never got at least 1 England cap I’ll never know..!! My old fav headline involved a report about a Palace match in which Johnny Byrne played. The Palace performance was poor but Byrne was all over the pitch, head and shoulders above everybody else in terms of ability 'Palace Fiddle while Byrne Roams'

Think my user name gives away my favourite. But surprised so few mentioned Andy Johnson. He did a great job in tough times.
4 playoff finals, Claridge, Hopkin, Shipperley, Phillips.... Life's never dull! |
