Wimbledon game. The only football game I ever left early and who can blame me.

Demonstration outside the 'Old Stand' after the game.

I got home and had been burgled. A memorable day.

Does any kind soul recall the 6-0 demolition of Norwich at Selhurst Park in I believe 1968 ?. Danny Light (Now sadly deceased) was one of the scorers as was Tommy Vansittart who got a brace - not bad for a defender!
Vansittart must be in his 70s now.

I don't remember that, so I wasn't probably wasn't there - don't know why. But I see from the records that it was on the Tuesday after Easter 1968, after we'd lost 1-2 to the same opposition on Easter Monday. The other scorers were Woodruff (2) and Lazarus.

I haven't consulted any records but you are right, the games were a day apart.I wasn't at the away game but recall the 6-0 victory as I went with a member of my family who was visiting me from the other part of the country. From memory, the Norwich manager was Lol Morgan.

such was the nature of that defeat it's a genuine question - what upset you more, Palace or the burglary? It was the nearest I got to football houliganism, dons fans singing 'team of the 80s' and some fat w*nker next to me shouting 'we want six'. Really wanted to smack him, it passed quickly and I reverted to my normal cowardly self thank goodness.

I watched the highlights of the ZDS on the Palace website I was there that day. The film editing was appalling and ruined a reminder of a great day.

Oh well at least we beat Everton that must have brought great joy to the team. I seem to remember Wrighty saying at the time that Everton was the worst ground to go to for our black players as Everton didn't have any they got lots of racial abuse. I bet he enjoyed sticking it to them.

Totally agree. Again, awful editing by an amateur at the club for the 2004 play-off final win over West Ham. It immediately jumps into that Lomas shot in the first second. And there's just 7 mins of footage from a 27 min clip! [Link]

I recall the dire crowds when some of our home attendances were less than 5,000.
Even that dastardly home game against Wimbledon, when we lost 5-0, only attracted about 8,000.
Even in the early days of Bright & Wright some of our attendances were below 10,000.

I remember 2-1 v Wednesday in front of 10k in 95, I think we lost at home to Coventry in the prem 0-2 in front of 8k about that time on a Saturday. I think crowds came back in the late 90s, bcos we were well supported in the 'Lombardo' season (97/9.

I have a vague memory of going to a home game against Middlesbrough with Peter Nicholas scoring the only goal with a penalty at the Holmesdale End after we had a man, or maybe two sent off.

Perhaps after all these years that have passed, my memory is playing tricks with me!

Yes I remember it well. I left early as well. I was living in Edmonton North London at the time and had travelled by tube, train and bus to get there. Bleak times.

Just watched the 3-4 defeat to Wolves brings back some memories.

- It was the Mullery era (excuse me whilst I wash my mouth out).
- The ground was pretty empty probably because the results weren't great.
- Jim Cannon reminding me he wasn't just a big unit he was a footballing centre half.
- Vince Hilaire showing Zaha skills before Zaha was a twinkle in his father's eye.
- Paul (Robber) Barron was our keeper the only thing he did was rob the club of a living.
- We were 2-0 up after 5 mins when did that last happen?
- Plenty of perms and mousaches on show
- Andy Gray showing us how to head the ball
- And yet again Palace snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I don't miss those games and to Hodgson's credit we don't do that now.

Love the bit where the commentator Brian Moore mistakes Vince Hilaire for Henry Hughton.
