Luka not helping team at moment, he seems to get booked early needlessly most games then goes missing . Needed and will need more creativity in midfield [Mayer] . We were never going to play through city so long ball was needed sooner . There is a time and place for root one and today was one . Tough run coming up and we will get no points playing like today, we need to gamble in a couple of those games .

today, luca was rightly feeling aggrieved to get a yellow for his 1st offence after 12mins and i think he was subbed to protect him from getting a red.

those who slate him make me laugh, its like you dont appreciate the work a DMF does unsung for the team week in, week out and protecting the back 4.

Wilf was missing for large parts of the game, is this why the really big clubs don't rate him?

It helps if he can be supplied with the ball in good areas. Playing overtly defensive tactics means he won't get much supply.

I thought Wilf was only missing for the parts of the game that he was played down the right. He looked dangerous when switched to the left as did the team once Townsend was down the right. Can't help but think Roy is that desperate to get his favourite player Sclupp in the starting line up that he's willing to play Wilf in a postion that he's less effective and drop Townsend completely. We're blunt up front anyway with our attacking options, why make things even worse by playing players that will create less or players out of position that will create even less chances for them?

he wasnt involved because citeh had 80% possession and whenever he got the ball he has sterling back asap to cover off the full back.

i dont see tonight as the time to be digging out players, losing 2 zip to that mob is fine in my eyes...especially when they play like that.

Agreed. Thought we gave them a run. The chap from Bloomfield should go and support Liverpool, we don’t need his kind here.

Thought we all played well, undone by two moments of quality.

Because then we'd miss out on the great memories we've had against Arsenal and City last season and United this one. If you expect us to turnover the top 6 teams every time we play them then you might have a lot of disappointment in the coming years.

Well played Wayne Hennessy - he made some great saves.

Impressed too by Ayew and Ward.

Reassuring that Christian B can still outjump opponents.

Not at all he gets the ball and top players will try to get involved

his problems are

1. poor movement at times you see him only walking around
2. he keeps slowing play up
3. needs to stop with tricks every time
4. does he not know how to cross or pass quickly
5. you can tell he doesn't like coming back
6. needs to stop playing as striker
7. really needs to grow up drop the attitude
8. waits for the ball doesn't attack it or offer much movement for better passes.

the guy is not top level with the experience and age he is at he should be a much better all round player.

now some will say maybe it's due to the level of players he is playing with but i dont buy that because he should be looking like a superstar then every game the guy was out paced by 33 year old and sterling had him in pocket

I do think better coaching would improve his game but he strikes me as having the wrong attitude look at the world class players and how much effort and attitude they have he is not in their league.

1) its called conserving energy, explosive players need to do that
2) nothing in front of him so whats the point in getting to the byline with potentially only ayew in the box
3) over the last 18 months he has done this
4) see point 2
5) no attacker does, he still does it tho as its part of his job
6) roys choice
7) agreed, thats my only criticism of him.
he has more dribbles than any player in the PL this season, hardly strikes me as a player who doesnt show for the ball.

is wilf a world class player, probably not...is he the best player outside the top 6...yes.

and he plays for our club, we should embrace this not just picking everything apart after a 2 zip loss against the champions.
