This, this and THIS Parish is far from the last person we want running our club, but he should NOT be trying to do everything himself. What he SHOULD be doing is going to Roy and saying "Right, this is our budget, this is how much we're prepared to spend, and if you want to blow the whole lot on strikers, you live or die by it." He should put some TRUST in his manager and let him be the main man. But he doesn't. Because HE wants to be that person, the king of Crystal Palace. Well, you're not Steve. Sorry if you don't like it, but the fans like Roy more than they like you. Get over it. I promise you leaving everything to the last minute isn't making you any friends. Just fork over the money and let him get on with it - then you can party it up on skiing trips all you like! But until that happens, I'm gonna keep calling him out for his crap. So what does Dougie actually do for his wages then? Also, what does every other club in our ballpark do differently? The set up is by no means perfect but some perspective is needed - as has already been said, we’re Palace not Citeh.

Spectacularly missing the point mate. When you leave deals until the last minute, and they collapse, you have no way of getting another quality signing in. Published dont necessarily make it so aswell. Given the state of our strike force I think we should have paid up aswell, and given both brothers season tickets at that late hour of the window. Dont make a habit of bending over for agents but do what you have to do to run the club properly and have proper squad depth. How about not waiting until the last minute on the Niasse deal, and getting the bloke into our office to sign a contract BEFORE the last minute of the transfer window? Then when his brothers try to mug us, we can say no thanks and then have time to get something else done.

Many said the same last January & that didn’t pan out too badly. Maybe there’s another ‘Luka’ in these signings - Roy & Dougie know the profile of the players they want so I doubt they’ve wasted time & money.

Sorry, but your comment was that his deal fell through last minute, “nobody knows why” - I simply pointed out that we do. If that’s ‘spectacularly missing the point’ then you’ve not typed what you’re trying to say. The fact he was there at the last knockings is because they were holding out for a bigger club - possibly due to SSN linking him to loads.

A poor 2 windows in a row is not signing a replacement for Mandanda. We had 1 window, and failed to do that. We have just had another window, and once again have failed. Our manager has said about 800 times how a PL team should have 3 front line keepers, and have you noticed how Hennessey makes the odd error, and Hodgson doesnt believe Speroni is a number 1 anymore. How you can think that not signing a goalkeeper in the last 2 windows is acceptable is beyond my understanding. The previous 2 windows have not been poor.Your now moaning about not replacing the 3rd choice Goalkeeper.

I suspect our supporters look at Swansea and see they have brought in Ayew and King who are pretty decent additions with PL experience.WBA have brought in Daniel Sturridge.Newcastle have signed Slimani.Stoke have brought in the combative Ndiaye for £14 Mill from Galatasaray. By contrast our supporters will look at some of our signings and view them as unknown Squad players. They will see no goalkeeper addition (Not for the want of trying), a young striker with no experience in any top league etc etc and will question whether in the event of any further injuries the new additions will actually prove to be of any use.Of course the supporters have not seen the players perform but based on what is known about them they have formed a judgement - I suspect that overall they are underwhelmed ! The young striker plays for Norway. Our new centre back plays for Poland. Our new midfielder plays for the Sweden U-20's. We have just recruited young players who can be with us for years. I feel like we collectively voice our angst every window and tend to forget about such players as Milivojevic and MacArthur coming in as underrated players and becoming such positive additions. The only way we'll understand this window is to wait and watch.

Before some idiot quotes me and tells me to get on with supporting the team, I'll be there on Sunday and don't even bother saying you think I/others secretly hope the club fail to be proven right because I couldn't give a damn. Nothing would please me more than Parish's penny pinching to work out. Palace to field the same starting 11 including Zaha, Townsend, Benteke, Sakho, Luka and no one to be subbed or injured. Realistically that will keep us up. Chances are slim to none of that happening though and even though we had a half decent 11 out against West Ham you could just see the players were dead on their **** and looked like they desperately needed some new blood to push them or give them a rest. According to SSN we are still looking to sign 3 by deadline. Hope it's correct. Won't hold my breath. Again though, prove me wrong. Rub my nose in it for all I care, just do what's best for the club. Have you ever thought that rather than it being Parish penny pinching (which it could be, granted) that it’s also likely that players just don’t see Palace as a good prospect for a them??

The previous 2 windows have not been poor.Your now moaning about not replacing the 3rd choice Goalkeeper. Mandanda was not signed to be third choice. Why have we failed to replace Hennessey? It’s so blatant that we needed to sign a keeper, even our manager said it many times this month. But we didn’t get it done. That’s not good enough. Swansea and Bournemouth have good goalkeepers that their manager’s are happy with. Underestimating Hennessey is not possible.

I wouldn't knock the players we have signed - if Freedman picked them out and Hodgson reckons he can develop them then that's exactly what we need to be doing, because you can't fill every squad place with someone you've to pay £30m for or expect them all to choose to come here. We don't know if that's working but we do know that Freedman has done this before and done it well. But the important deals we needed to do to address current weaknesses in the squad haven't been done for the second window on the trot and even if we stay up it'll be too much to catch up in the Summer. Therefore those three players and some more like them will need to be up to the mark. Somehow you feel safer with a household name on the teamsheet but it ain't necessarily so. But until they've played a bit it's hard to have confidence in the short term. They have no PL experience, and whilst you only get that by playing, how would you feel if Sakho had a relapse and had to come off to be replaced by Jach against Toon? Dicey to say the least. (OK, so we name Kelly and Delaney subs and start Sakho and Tomkins, but you get my drift). Edited by chateauferret (01 Feb 2018 12.57am)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sums up this transfer window' by Midlands Eagle The challenge is players need to be available (club willing to sell), better than we already have, affordable to Palace and want to come here. Often selling clubs will delay decisions until late in the window, hoping for a higher offer, or waiting to ensure they have a suitable replacement. Edited by Bearcage (01 Feb 2018 12.53am)
