How childish.

Straw man again?

I never felt uncomfortable at all. It is true that black players are disproportionately represented in football if that is what you are saying. I was very pleased to have such talent in the side. I have a picture of Mr Wright right next to Muhammad Ali in my home gym.

Not for South London, and the surrounding areas of Selhurst Park in particular.

Not that it matters in football as it's talent driven. News reading isn't and Emily Maitless is proof of that, she was f***ing useless at it for years and they stuck with her, and subsequently promoted her.

Optimistic as ever

I don't think he is on that particular point Kermit.

My wife is always commenting on the fact that the BBC seems over represented with Asian/Black/Disabled/Gay presenters.

She is totally unpolitical and rarely expresses an opinion (I know I do more than enough for both of us)... but even she can spot political correctness in action and the BBC have obviously employed a positive discrimination in this regard it seems.

I don't necessarily disagree but my response is 'so what?' - All BBC journalists will have good degrees and mostly from top universities so they will have grafted for what they have achieved.

Plus, the BBC big as it is will have many hundreds and hundreds of presenters national and regional - tv and radio - and i bet when all are totted up ethnic minority numbers will not be so 'over-represented'

It's a daft debate really and a bit backward. As long as they present well that's the crux.

While I understand that this forum is something of a comfort blanket for some rather than a football forum, I do fear that it has normalised unfortunate and entrenched views about fellow countrymen. On this subject area whenever I state a view I'm 'playing the race card' so my hands are tied anyway. This is not a place for all thats for sure.

No, I value your opinion. We are all entitled to one.

I think these things work both ways BPF. I'm sure many a black or Asian person has felt like they didn't see enough people like them in the media in the past. Maybe too many negative images. Equally, sometimes the rest of us might wake up, put on the TV and wonder why we see so many more black and Asian faces on TV than in our high street. I see nothing surprising or sinister about that.

No, that would be a picture of James Corden.

The black population of South London 1985-92 - the Wright era - would have been around 10%. Croydon's was much less than that.

Palace's first XI is 1992 was 40% black.

But it is interesting that the usual suspects should pick up on that specific part of my post.

And I believe you. So why do you feel uncomfortable about the supposed disproportionate representation of British newsreaders who don't have the same skin colour as you?

Not really,it was almost the most naff part...that particular prize is reserved for the infantile Fidel dig (may his esteemed and immortal soul rest in peace

Some welcome the new Trumpist Faragist "far right is the new centre" age...others despise and deplore it...simples.
