I suppose Mayweather is to boxing what Spain are / were to football. Control it, dictate the pace, nullify the threat of the opponent and be ruthlessly efficient.

I'm a firm believer in sport being more about the spectacle rather than winning at any cost.

Yep that's a lot closer than the pullis one.

Apt comparison. This fight did huge numbers but realistically was a let down as a super fight. It's no surprise that UFC is more popular with younger people. That's more about the event than the individual or politics.

Still find boxing a much better spectacle. So much more exciting.

I waited up to watch that s***.

Never has a fight promised so much and delivered so little. More like a game of kiss chase than a fight, correct me if I'm wrong here, but not a single mark on either one of them.

load of over Hyped American shyte, give me Kel Brook v Amir Khan any day.

The 2 Froch / Groves clashes were really absorbing to watch and brilliant theatre.

Maybe it's a British thing? Our fighters fight an honest fight and with their heart.

The same thing has been levelled at the Klitchkos, they have developed a defensive style that keeps their opponent at bay but they have made the heavyweight division dull.

Bored with the Floyd Mayweather money making scheme.

He should fight Khan now but he will avoid him and take easier fights and then retire. He will then have a lot in common with Rocky Marciano because they both mostly fought fighters that knew they could beat.
If Mayweather was a proper sportsman he should have fought Pacquiao 5 years ago.

Oh f*** off.

It's just the same repetitive s***e, really isn't it?? Mayweather would have beaten Pacquaio 5 years ago too, they're styles just play in to Mayweather's hands, as myself, Stuk and others have said for a while now.

I suppose you think Mayweather was 'running away' for the whole 12 rounds too?? Just like everyone else that doesn't understand boxing.

The guy has fought pretty much every threat he's had in his career, apart from when he was in prison, obviously. Pacquiao, Hatton, Cotto, Alverez, De La Hoya. Who else is there? Khan is probably the best contender out there to actually trouble Mayweather, he's got the speed and footwork, but is he really high profile enough for Mayweather's swansong?

Pacquiao has definitely gone down hill a lot since five years back. We don't and won't ever know what would've happened on account that the fight didn't take place.

I'd like to see a match up with Khan too. Defensively he doesn't have a lot to offer but he's quick and a very hard puncher. I'd be 'impressed' if Mayweather chose to risk fighting Khan but I doubt he will. Maybe he'll take on his wife again instead.

Exactly, i'm tired of hearing it.

"Alvarez has the hand speed and explosive power to beat Mayweather"

Gets schooled.

"Pacquiao has the hand speed and explosive power to beat Mayweather"

Gets a boxing lesson.

"Khan has the...." blah blah blah

He would have taken Manny apart more convincingly five years ago. He'll dispatch Khan and seal the deal in a rematch with Manny. There will be no change. He will retire unbeaten and cement his place as the greatest boxer of the last 20 years.

I think not.
Mayweathr has avoided Pacquaio for years.

Lets see if he fights Khan and takes a risk.
He made Marquez look average so he should have nothing to worry about. I'd like to have seen Maywether against Ray Leonard, Hagler, Hearns or some of the other great middleweights/welterweights to judge him fairly.

Mayweather has dodged PacMan for years. There's no doubt about that. He's watched his light fade and then agreed to fight him. Wouldn't expect anything less from Mayweather. 5 years ago PacMan was putting on some of the most impressive diaplays in the ring that I have witnessed in my 35 years. To say that Maywether would still have beaten him when Manny was in his prime is just wrong. There's no telling now which way it would have gone though but I think, over the course of a few fights(which is what we should have had) the decisions would have been shared.
Ultimately Maywether has robbed us of what could have been some of the most thrilling boxing bouts in the sports history. This, as well as the woman bashing is why I will never respect him.
