Now why do you suppose they choose to hire into such roles? You may find the latest McKinsey report helpful in that regard And where on earth does the figure of 10,000 specialists come from. The ratio of EDI specialists to employees in the NHS is perhaps as high as 1:1,500 but we know local authorities normally have only two so the ratio would be more like the 1:5,000 we would see at Croydon Council. There are 5.77m UK public sector workers. I leave it to you to do that complex division. It certainly seems you can't easily estimate as you swallowed that load of baloney hook, line and sinker. Perhaps you should be lobbying the Government to repeal The Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017 which drives considerable amounts of the work for EDI.

And because of why it was done, an attempt to paint everyone that isn't extreme right wing as foolish and prone to wasting money. The investment in diversity isn't as high as portrayed, and as such the business case is stronger. Fairly straightforward really Do you know what I spent yesterday doing? That's right, you got it in one, I was writing a menopause policy. It's wokeness gone mad I tell you. When they've finished having babies, the obvious thing for women to do is to get better at cookery not try to go out to work. And as for having old f*rts serving you at B&Q, what's that all about? Who wants a crusty retiree touching their shopping at the till.

I haven’t read all of this. People venting their spleens over their prejudices can do it without me getting involved. It’s just amusing to read sometimes. Having seen the recent dismissal of equality, diversity and Inclusivity policy initiatives as a waste of money I gave it some thought. I am long retired and such things were in their infancy when I worked. I like to think I did everything I could to ensure fairness of opportunity for all, when I managed and employed people. Things have changed. Expectations have increased but, more importantly, so have our needs. We have a serious labour shortage. We need to make sure that everyone who can work, wants to work, does work, is happy and maximises their potential. So surely trying to remove any barriers which have the capacity to restrict the above is not only fair to those directly impacted it’s also an investment in all our futures? Managing the national workforce is a special skill not available to many but I can see the wisdom which lies behind promoting equality.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Managing the national workforce is a special skill not available to many but I can see the wisdom which lies behind promoting equality. It is, even if you didn't want to call it 'wisdom' it's a pretty solid business case: current demographics, greater employee engagement, experience, collaboration, productivity, morale etc. etc. I too have not read too many responses here but I'd like to think unless you are a pr!ck you'd happily get behind, endorse or support such things. That's my stance on it in any case. It's not the things itself which I have any problem with, I actually support it when/wherever I can and I see value in it's form. My personal issue however, which I suspect is a less forceful one then others, is that it lies open to hijacking and abuse when granted some sort of ideological status. From my experience, and my experience only, it is often if not always jumped upon by those seeking to exploit it for personal gain. This can present as individuals loudly identifying as a 'protected characteristic' and seeking to exploit this for career progression or people aligning to D&I causes within the bracket of the oft' quoted 'virtue signalling' for purely personal gain. This machiavellian practice, for me, often actually affects any cause as it detracts from and taints it's core purpose. To therefore throw unwavering support behind everything is at the very least highly suspicious. Equally, to ridicule and seek to oppose everything under the D&I umbrella is equally questionable. I have no idea to what extent the NHS or any other organisation asides from my own is actually doing around this however I would be very accepting of notions that it was being either misapplied or exploited for reasons other than how it should. I am guessing that may be many an other's issue with it. Does not mean it should all go in the bin as a final thought for clarity. (BTW, 10,000 seems an extraordinarily high number so of course shocking if true but I am dubious).
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Just a bunch of entitled rich people trying to get the neanderthals excited about a dog whistle issue to excuse them objecting to paying for what is needed. As a reminder we pay a little more than a third per head than the US in healthcare. But this lot wants us to believe we should be able to save so much money there is no need to pay more into the NHS. In order to save themselves some of the tax that they pay at relatively lower rates than those that earn less then them. Edited by Mapletree (27 Jan 2023 5.42pm) Who are the neanderthals you refer to?
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
