Apparently there are 10,000 equity, diversity and inclusion officers in the public sector at a cost to the taxpayer of £557 million a year.

If I tell the truth I'd love that job. I doubt many are white middle aged men though. Sounds like a made up job that you can spend your time doing "research".

I shouldn't think they bother with any research, they just call wherever they are working, 'institutionally racist'.

Do share from where you got that 'stat'.

I guess that is equality not equity.

If the NHS has 800 and has nearly a quarter of all UK public sector workers, someone is going a bit mad.

Having spent my career in the corporate world there is one truism. If you appoint someone to a newly defined role the first thing they do is look to see how they can get more resources.

If you appoint someone to address the widget problem pretty soon they will be banging on the bosses door demanding more staff and resources to address this major issue.

This has nothing to do with diversity managers per se it's just human nature, you are unlikely to have a diversity and equality manager tell you nothing to see here boss everything is fine.

Equity - as in the quality of being fair and impartial.
Figures are from Way Forward, in a report published in December.

Maybe you could provide a link.

Who or what is Way Forward?

Are you sure this doesn't include people dealing in shares?

Ah, you mean Conservative Way Forward. The organisation where Elliott Johnson committed suicide after being bullied by Mark Clarke.

Well, I can see how this would give you a wholly objective view of life, the Universe and everything.

I claim bullsh*t. Prove me wrong

Actually this is not what the report is quoted as saying.

Page 3 of the report states: 'Section 1 concerns “Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity” (EDI) positions and training. Ten thousand EDI jobs are costing the UK taxpayer £557 million a year, as well as 1 million working days lost. The money saved from these positions could fund around 12,500 nurses.'

Of course you dismiss such reports - you would, wouldn't you?

The UK Health Alliance on Climate Change is a collaboration of several dozen health organisations who ‘coordinate action, provide leadership and advocate for just responses to the climate crisis’.
They have received of £110 million of tax-payers money since 2017.
Activities of the alliance include legal action against DEFRA, calling for climate reparations, collaborating with Extinction Rebellion, and involvement in public disturbances. The public disturbances include cracking glass on public buildings and blocking bridges in central London. On 7 April 2022 they, along with Doctors for Extinction Rebellion, blocked the road outside the Treasury, demanding an end to fossil fuels. On 10 April 2022 the group blocked, along with Extinction Rebellion, Lambeth Bridge.
