I agree, being a trade union official (or lefty in HOL speak,) we have taken our annual conference out of London in recent years and it reduces costs - venue, hotel, delegate costs the lot by over 50% Used to spend lots of time in Aberdeen aa well since the slow down in Oli prices have dropped considerably. Still at least now I also know that watching Sports personality of the year is a political statement. Or the BBC could just say to their guests pay your own way.

The point of the movie is about the futility of gang crime and is no more pro violence than say Rambo or any other white movies. Its pathetic that is is being banned when its only a 15 rating and telling an innercity story. I can think of loads of questionable films that should on this curernt basis, but were not banned at the time...eg clockwork orange... So anyway two movie mult-complexes ban it...therefore feeding the interest and "accidentally" promoting the film Ha Ha ! Originally posted by Badger11
Oh dear the BBC funded film Blue Story which is about rap and gang violence was the source of the violence at the Birmingham cinema. Its based on the real life experience of the director around Lewisham. Who'd have thought that a movie about that culture would have inspired so much violence, well pretty much most people actually. If you go looking for a gas leak with a match what do you expect? I know that the BBC believes in equality and inclusiveness catering for all demographics but does that have to extend to gangsters as well. I mean do they actually pay their TV licences? Okay I am being a little tongue in cheek and whoever is responsible for the violence it's a bit harsh to blame the BBC. Still the point is made, not all cultures are worthy of celebration.

Sorry, I usually like your posts but this is a really poor take. It wasn’t the source of the violence, that’s a link which has been entirely made up - I wonder why? Is London gang culture the only type of violent culture which, when depicted in a movie, causes anyone to pick up a knife and stab someone? It’s amazing all those other violent films don’t do the same.

I had to close my shop after Brexit Vote. And the BBC is at it again more project fear. Apparently this woman sells woolly jumpers (good for her) but after the Brexit vote she was forced to close her shop. Moving house or job I get, too scared of Brexit to buy a jumper?

Labour party getting a proper kick in from the BBC 2 days running. Either this finally puts your left biased cobblers into the dustbin of other right wing nonsense or it fuels alternative populist claptrap about the great Jewish Conspiracy. (Ok it probably does reflect a strong Jewish presence in the media but do not let facts get in the way of a good argument)

I look forward to them continuing this after the GE.

Reminder about Voting. Some idiot shared a picture of their postal voting slip on social media tonight. Folks it is illegal to photograph your ballot paper so please do not do it whether it's a postal vote or you are in the polling station. No photography otherwise Inspector Knacker of the Yard maybe feeling your collar. And on the subject of voting the old "why do they use pencils" urban myth will no doubt come up again. It's not so the staff can erase your vote and change it that is rubbish. You can bring and use your own writing instrument if you want although technically it is illegal, staff have been told to let it go. If you use a pen and the ink is not dry when you fold the paper it is possible that the ink transfers so the paper has 2 crosses. In other words this is for your benefit not some sinister conspiracy. If either of these 2 points come up in your company please clarify them I have been surprised the number of people who didn't know this. Thanks Sorry wrong thread Edited by Badger11 (27 Nov 2019 9.47pm)

That said, the BBC are left wing liberals and it's a nonsense to suggest otherwise as the evidence pile comes from direct employees.....witness Tony Hall's over-throwing of the BBC's own rule book over 'racism'....as left as it gets. As for 'Jewish conspiracies'?.....Personally I think some of that is spread by those looking to discredit the dissident right (though I won't deny anti semitism in the alt right). But those with any sense know how it works. Besides there are plenty on the dissident right who aren't anti Jewish anyway.....Robinson for example couldn't be more pro Jewish.

The difference being that back then Disney films didn’t carry warnings and bans weren’t the only solution proposed for anything people found objectionable.

A Clockwork Orange was famously banned for decades at the request of Stanley Kubrick who was concerned about copycat violence.

Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Nov 2019 10.03pm) Isn't Robinson's support for Jews largely limited to the support for Israel given their aggression against Islamic neighbours?
