To my mind, tis all scapegoating and scaremongering to deflect away from the real issues affecting us. Really Nick? That's what you truly believe after all the points made against immigration on Hol? You think it's about 'scapegoating and scaremongering'? Sometimes I feel like giving up debating.
There's been so much underinvestment in and cutting away of our infrastructures in recent times. That's where the issue lies.

Actually Stirling,I visit Japan every year and like doing so.Helps that I'm not averse to them being of a different race, religion and ethnicity to me. As of 2010,more than 2 million people from elsewhere lived there. Edited by legaleagle (18 Aug 2015 11.03pm)
The Japanese protect their nationality. Like I say, I like and respect that.

I know of two people who have been in Japan for a couple of years at least.
You can work in Japan....nothing wrong in that....But to become Japanese you can't keep your dual nationality. Overall Japan has very little immigration.....This has been a deliberate policy. That's how they like it according to surveys.....You see they actually had a choice. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Aug 2015 3.17am)

For your information, the term 'j*p' is considered to be an ethnic slur by some people: Whilst I am totally against 'political correctness gone mad', it is advisable not to use it as it may cause offence.

And now loads of Brits want to live in multi-cultural Australia...but unlike the old days loads can't go ..because they have points-based immigration rules that no longer are biased towards those from one particular background (Brits). It seems you are opposed to a society which has pretty strong immigration rules but practices multi culturalism overwhelmingly successfully for those who live there. Edited by legaleagle (18 Aug 2015 10.11pm) I'm don't believe in multiculturalism. I was forced to live within it growing up and I exactly what I'm talking about. If others are happy with that lifestyle then I'm happy for them. Though I'm not sure I buy your rosy picture about Australia....But I haven't researched it. I believe in a points based system but rather than encouraging an acceptance of multiple cultures I'm far more a supporter of integration into a host culture. The left have lost this argument in Britain....The whole reasons that UKIP started up is because of people with views like yourself Legal. What you see in Australia (and I have lived there) is that IMO the multi-cultural policies, implemented in a very positive way, have led to very great overall integration generally of certainly the immigrants' kids born/reared there. That you see so little to seemingly admire from their example is a pity, though predictable since I know and appreciate you do not believe in multi culturalism full stop. Presumably your opposition to seeing any positives at all arising from multi-culturalism even extends to food,a clear beneficiary of the more diverse range of restaurants available to us as a result of becoming a more multi cultural society than say back in the the fifties.Do you abstain from even the occasional curry on the basis anything resulting from multi culturalism (as opposed to immigrants "integrating" by only offering trad British delights)must,by definition,be negative?

Legal thinks that if you're not fond of multiculturalism that it's doubtful that you should be in favour of curry. One of the more amusing points made in the argument around multiculturalism.

Yes, we need to nip this sort of thing in the bud.
