Our record in penalty shoot outs is pretty bad isn't it? Anyone remember the league cup 1st round vs Bristol Rovers in 2007?!

That's no excuse for a performance like that. If he wasn't bothered about winning he could have tried something different like actually attacking. We had 38% possession against a poor championship team. Taking a look at the line up I'd say he tried something different. Not sure why everybody is so up in arms about losing on penalties in the Mickey Mouse Cup

Getting rained on in the only uncovered part of the ground during the middle of August. Woeful game and woeful pens... tonight's were much better. Was Kuqi playing? As for this evening. Can't say I've ever cared less about losing on pens knowing that we'd have to field another under strength side against City. A clean sheet from what was effectively our third choice back line is impressive. I'll ignore our lack of threat up top and hold that judgement for Prem games. Edited by samprior (16 Sep 2020 6.16am)

Our match stats were far from impressive but this cup especially this year, we could do without, at least we will not risk any unnecessary injuries now by having to play in extra rounds!

So could be 10-10 at full time with that line up. Wow. Very close!

A lot of you slate Roy for negative tactics. Have a look at yourselves in the mirror with your negativity. A back 4 of Kelly, Innis, Jach, Woods. That’s not even Championship standard that is League 2. You should take your hat off to them for keeping a clean sheet.

Always disappointing to lose and being the only prem side to do so last night :-( Again shows the weakness of our squad and was disappointed to hear Bats and Eze didn’t show well. It is only a Mickey Mouse cup but for fans like us a chance to get to Wembley to show something for the number of years in the prem which will eventually disappear? It also gives more game time to those that normally sit on the bench. Chance lost to get more game time as far as I’m concerned :-(

Wonder if Hennessy was asked to do that penalty. I’d like to see him do it again.

The harsh reality is that we mustered 4 shots - one of which was on target and 2 corners in 120 minutes of open play.

Hilarious comments. I, for one, am delighted we won't be facing Man City. The reality was, we had nobody who could pass out from the back until Sakho came on...and when he did it was only him and he's not fit. When you are, essentially, forced to play low quality long ball without a target man, the result is very ugly. None of the players in midfield or attack suit that game. When Sakho came on, we had a short burst of excellence-- yes excellence-- from Max Meyer. He was everywhere and very very bright. That was nice. Then the torpor resumed.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
